Lionel Messi did not speak to reporters for a second consecutive time on Wednesday after Inter Miami’s goalless draw against Nashville SC – a violation of the league’s media rules.
Messi was unavailable after making his MLS debut with the New York Red Bulls last weekend.
And the Argentine again didn’t talk to the media after a hard-fought point for his team in Fort Lauderdale.
Mail Sport contacted a team spokesperson on Wednesday to ask if Messi would be made available, but have not received a response at time of publication.
A match report from the Miami Herald did not contain postgame quotes from Messi.
Lionel Messi has given only one press conference so far since joining Inter Miami
Ahead of the Red Bulls game, MLS executive vice president of communications Dan Courtemanche said Messi – like all players – should be available to the media after games.
Some teams find ways to get around the league’s media access policies, especially access to open locker rooms, by bringing selected players outside for interviews or press conferences.
It is unclear if Miami or Messi will be sanctioned for last weekend’s offense, or if they will be sanctioned for the offense on Wednesday.
He was restrained in Miami on Wednesday night and drew 0-0 at home against Nashville SC
Messi also did not speak to the media following the Miami Leagues Cup final victory over Nashville.
He has given only one press conference so far, speaking through a translator.
Wednesday night was the first time Miami failed to score in a game since Messi made his club debut against Cruz Azul on July 21.
The club faces an uphill battle to make it to the MLS postseason as it is 10 points off the final play-in spot with as many games to play.
