Lucy and Richard met on a flight to Dubai and a conversation ensued when he introduced himself to her, after recognizing her from television.
Lucy previously said of their first meeting, “He was sitting next to me and while I was reading a book he tapped me on the shoulder and said, ‘This must be strange for you because I know a lot about you and you know it. not. I don’t know about me, but my name is Richard and I’m going to Dubai”.
Luckily I thought it was really funny and we kept chatting. We were engaged in six weeks – and married in nine months.”
Lucy was seven weeks pregnant with their first child when they tied the knot. She said, “I was a little pushy, but you have to get on with it.”
Lucy’s ex-boyfriend includes her former co-star Steve McFadden, whose character she shot down during her 2003 soap exit after playing the character for four years.
Lucy returned to EastEnders as Lisa Fowler, more than twenty years after her character shot Phil.

Soap star Lisa was last on the BBC soap four years ago when she became pregnant with Keanu, with Lisa’s ex Phil discovering that Keanu was also having an affair with his wife Sharon (Letitia Dean) at the time.
In 2019, during Lisa’s brief return, her character Lisa helped her daughter flee Albert Square to Portugal after becoming convinced she was responsible for Keanu’s murder.
While Keanu didn’t die, it was actually Phil who tried to see him off after Keanu got both his wife and daughter pregnant.
Lisa and Louise had been living in the Portuguese sun with Phil’s granddaughter Peggy ever since, and Louise didn’t know that Keanu was still alive.
During a hiatus from the show, Lucy appeared on the series I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! from 2009, but was the first to be voted down.
She has also had roles in Casualty, Holby City and New Tricks.
