Amy Sedaris is SLAMMED for heartfelt birthday tribute to pop legend Michael Jackson on what would have been his 65th birthday: ‘Let’s not glorify him’

Actress Amy Sedaris is facing criticism for encouraging her 1.2 million Instagram followers to listen to Michael Jackson’s greatest hits on what would have been his 65th birthday.

After urging her fans to “groove to some of” the late star’s “timeless music”, including Smooth Criminal, The Way You Make Me Feel and Billie Jean, the 62-year-old comedian was criticized for honoring The King of Pop, who was accused of child sexual abuse by Wade Robson and James Safechuck.

Both of the father-of-three’s alleged victims appeared in the hugely controversial 2019 HBO documentary, Leaving Neverland.

Jackson has denied all allegations that he molested underage boys during his lifetime, and so has his estate since his tragic passing in June 2009.

Despite being acquitted in a child molestation trial four years before the death, Sedaris’ fans were shocked and “surprised” by her birthday tribute to the Thriller hitmaker.

“I love you Amy, but this is not a man to be celebrated,” one Instagram user wrote under her post.

Another begged her and others “to glorify him no more.”

A third described the thirteen-time Grammy winner as “so talented and yet so insane.”

Others suggested it was okay to “celebrate the music without condoning human flaws/mistakes/crimes.”

“I don’t know anyone who didn’t grow up with Michael Jackson’s music,” one commenter noted.

Michael’s death, at the age of 50, was caused by cardiac arrest brought on by a massive accidental overdose of the sedative propofol in the hospital.

On Tuesday, his daughter, Paris, revealed that she will be told by trolls to kill herself if she doesn’t post online tributes to her late father on his birthday.

The 25-year-old singer spoke of the cruel messages she receives online while talking about her father Michael Jackson’s legacy.

Paris explained that when her father was alive, he didn’t like celebrating his birthday and didn’t even want his children to know when it was.

She told fans in an Instagram video posted earlier this week, “So today is my dad’s birthday, and when he was alive he hated everyone who acknowledged his birthday, wished him a happy birthday, the fourth, no such thing.

“He didn’t really want us to know when his birthday was because he didn’t want us to have a party.

“If you don’t wish someone a happy birthday on social media, it apparently means you don’t love them, you don’t care about them.

“There have been times when I didn’t post anything for my dad’s birthday and people went crazy. They tell me to commit suicide.

“And they’re basically measuring my love for my own dad based on what I post on Instagram.”

Paris then shared footage of herself on stage opening for rock band Incubus at the Las Colonias Park Amphitheater in Grand Junction, Colorado, earlier on Tuesday.

She announced to the crowd that it was her father’s 65th birthday, to which the audience cheered.

Paris told them, “He put fifty years of blood, sweat and tears, love and passion into what he did so that I can stand here on stage for you guys and shout into a microphone, so I’m all about him to thank. ‘

The actress and musician also called on fans to be kind in the caption of her Instagram post on Jackson’s birthday.

She said, “Please don’t use a man you’ve never met as an excuse to abuse, manipulate and harass his daughter (who you’ve also never met). LOVE (red heart emoji)’.

While Paris honored her father on social media, her two brothers – Prince Jackson, 26, and Deken ‘Bigi’ Jackson, 21, were recently spotted together in Las Vegas.

The duo were spotted photographing with fans and signing autographs at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Sin City after a Michael Jackson-themed Cirque du Soleil performance.

Jackson had Prince and Paris with ex-wife Debbie Rowe, to whom he was married from November 1996 to April 2000.

The singer said in the 2003 documentary Living with Michael Jackson that Deken was conceived through a surrogate mother, though the woman’s identity was never revealed.

Jackson — whose estate has been marred by a string of child molestation allegations — was also married to Lisa Marie Presley from May 1994 to August 1996, but the couple never had children.
