An eight-year-old boy anxiously awaits the results of an infection test after pricking his finger on a used syringe hidden in a toilet roll.
The boy was playing on the Wayne Richards Park cycle path in Port Macquarie on the north coast of NSW on Sunday when he decided to use the public toilet.
“When he went to use the toilet roll in the public bathroom, the needle fell out and went ‘all the way in’ to his middle finger, his father said. The Daily Telegraph.
“Unfortunately, the needle went all the way in. He bent the needle and came out of the bathroom with the needle on his finger.’

He will have to return to the hospital for further testing in the next three weeks, three months, six months and 12 months.
His “heartbroken” family say they hope the incident will draw attention to the need for more bins and needle safety.
The boy’s father said the incident would affect his family for the rest of their lives.
‘It’s just disgusting. I don’t care if you use needles, that’s your choice, but don’t leave them in a toilet where children are around,” he said.
The boy had been playing with friends on the Wayne Richards Park cycle path in Port Macquarie on the NSW north coast on Sunday afternoon.
Wayne Richards Park has fields for AFL, cricket and football, as well as a popular 4km mountain bike track and skateboard ramps.
The park regularly hosts sports competitions in the Port Macquarie community.
NSW Police said officers from the Mid North Coast Police District have been notified and have launched an investigation into the incident.
