- The elevator came to a shaking stop before crashing down like a Disneyland attraction, injuring three
This is the horrifying moment when three passengers in a tower block elevator crashed into the ceiling as it plummeted down like an amusement park ride.
The three passengers were descending into the elevator of an apartment building in Changsha city, Hunan province, China, when it came to a shaking stop on the fourth floor and refused to move.
As the passengers anxiously tried to push buttons, hoping they would get him to move, he suddenly slumped. The acceleration was so rapid that the trio flew into the air and crashed into the sides and top of the elevator.
One rider is flung so powerfully into the sky that he crashes into the ceiling – before gravity catches up with him and drops him on top of the other two passengers, who were flung into the walls.
You can see all three writhing in agony on the floor in the aftermath of the elevator’s violent descent on Saturday, August 26 – which reportedly sustained spinal damage.

As the elevator goes into freefall and the passengers crash into the walls and ceiling, the person filming the camera clip on his phone shouts, “O, wo de tian a” – Chinese for “Oh my God.”
Li, one of the passengers in the elevator, told the Newsflare news agency: “Everything was spinning. We were all thrown into the air before we fell to the ground.’
He said the elevator “stopped while descending” and “wouldn’t move” before crashing to the floor in a scene that looked straight out of a Disneyland ride.
Li said he suffered only minor bruises to his legs, but another passenger reportedly broke two lumbar bones in his lower back.
A woman named Wu, who said she was the wife of the man who had broken bones, added, “If there had been elderly people or children in the elevator at the time, I can’t imagine what could have happened.” ‘
Residents have reportedly raised concerns about the lift with property managers in the past.

Otis, which manufactures the affected elevator, said it sent technicians to examine and repair the machines.
The experience bears a chilling resemblance to Disneyland attraction The Tower of Terror, which was inspired by the classic sci-fi anthology show The Twilight Zone.
During the ride, passengers board a carriage that resembles the service elevator of a 1930s Hollywood hotel – and are lifted nearly 200 feet into the air before falling 150 feet into darkness.
Earlier this year, a woman in Indonesia died after she forced the doors of an airport elevator and stepped into an empty elevator shaft, unaware that the correct doors had opened behind her.
