Former Manchester United midfielder Fred has seemingly confirmed his old club has finalized the signing of Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.

The Brazilian, who signed with the Turkish giants this summer, said he had already said goodbye to Bayindir at his introductory press conference in Istanbul.

United are looking for a substitute for Andre Onana, with Dean Henderson set to complete a move to Crytal Palace before the transfer window closes.

Fred said, “I wished Altay the best of luck when he left. He’s going to a great team.

“I gave him some suggestions of places he could live and I told him it rains a lot!

“I think Altay will be very happy at Manchester United.”

Bayindir waved to Fenerbache supporters after their Europa Conference League victory against FC Twente last Thursday.

A £4.25 million transfer has been agreed between United and the Turkish club, with United officials traveling to Greece last week to finalize the deal.

The 25-year-old made 40 appearances in all competitions last season as Fenerbache finished second in the Turkish Super Lig and won the Turkish Cup.

Bayindir captained that success last season, also winning five caps for Turkey.

His arrival will allow Henderson to complete a £20 million move to Selhurst Park.

The England international was loaned out to Nottingham Forest last season but is now set for a permanent move from Old Trafford.

Palace have been looking for a new goalkeeper since Vicente Guaita expressed his desire to return to Spain.

Sam Johnstone has started the first three games of the Premier League season and now faces competition from Henderson for a place in the sticks.
