Zara Tindall shows off her equestrian skills as she competes in The Wellington International Horse Trials in Heckfield

Royal equestrian and horse enthusiast Zara Tindall looked focused as she showed off her skills to compete today.

Princess Anne’s 42-year-old daughter took part in the Wellington International Horse Trials in Heckfield earlier this morning.

The competition, which also doubles as a funfair, lasted three days and started on August 26.

Each year the event attracts a range of high profile riders who often compete in classes on international rankings.

The mother of three is an impressive international equestrian competitor, having won a gold medal at the 2005 European Eventing Championships and a silver medal at the 2006 World Equestrian Games.

While driving, Olympic silver medalist Zara looked sleek in white slacks, a fitted double-breasted navy blue blazer, tails and a high-collared shirt.

The royal rode her prized gray gelding, Classicals Euro Star, as she competed in the final day of dressage and jumping trials.

It sported a formidable pair of pointy brown horns in a knitted cap alongside a neatly plaited mane.

The Royal Family’s sportsmanship is nationally recognized and in 2006 she was crowned the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year.

Zara, who is married to former Rugby Union player Mike Tindall, 44, regularly competes in equestrian events.

Earlier this month, the happy couple were pictured together at the Epsom Derby.

During the event, Animal Rising protesters tried to stop the races. But Zara made a rare intervention, urging them to stop their movement.

She said, ‘They (the protesters) speak about what they believe in… but do (they) fully understand what (they) are talking about?’

Meanwhile, Mike pleaded with activists to “spend some time at professional yards” to see how the animals are being treated.

As the couple basked in the sun during the races, Zara looked chic as ever in a white midi dress with black stripes, topped off with a matching black and white cockade hat.

Meanwhile, Mike opted for a traditional morning coat, with gray trousers under his black skirt and a black and white striped tie to match his wife’s dress.

The couple appeared to be enjoying their day at Surrey Racecourse and were photographed smiling as they posed together.

And Zara saw you enjoying a glass of wine at one point, watching the action intently.
