Adventure Land, Darwin: Australian mother’s outrage at children’s play center amazing prize meal

  • Mother shocked by $63 meal at children’s play center
  • Says she will bring food from home in the future

An Australian mother has lashed out at a children’s play center after an expensive family day out as the cost of living continues to worsen.

She recently took her kids to Adventure Land in Palmerston, southeast of Darwin, where entry is $15 per child.

After ordering a bowl of chips, a chicken parmigiana, a bowl of nuggets, a small cup of gravy, and two small drinks, she was shocked to see a whopping $63.40 bill.

She was “unimpressed” by the exorbitant costs and asked via social media if prices were usually that high.

A mother is horrified by a $63 meal at a children’s play center in Darwin, claiming she will only cook at home from now on as food prices skyrocket

“(I’m) probably just going to cook at home and take it with me from now on, it’s going to be insanely expensive,” the mom wrote.

The message caught the attention of countless other parents who had been to the play center and were also surprised by the food prices.

“Shocking as if the entry fee isn’t expensive enough,” one user wrote.

A second user wrote that they “refuse to go there with those prices.”

“Yes, normally, we don’t eat there for obvious reasons,” a third wrote, confirming that the prices were standard for the company.

A fourth added: ‘Wow! Go to the pub with a playground, a lot cheaper’.

Others noted that the company could set the prices of their food as it saw fit to pay for wages, maintenance, and other operating expenses.

“Food in Adventureland is expensive, and food in playgrounds is expensive because their staff and rent are paid,” one parent wrote.

Another added: “I like supporting small businesses, but there’s a line between wanting and not being able to.”

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Adventure Land for comment.

Adventure Land has been described as Darwin’s best place to party and play for children aged 0 to 13, with a three-storey state-of-the-art play structure.
