Man United’s Luke Shaw set to be out for a number of weeks with muscle injury, after Mason Mount picked up a hamstring knock that could sideline him for six weeks

Man United’s Luke Shaw will be out for several weeks with a muscle injury, after Mason Mount suffered a hamstring injury that could sideline him for six weeks.

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has suffered a muscle injury that will see him out for several weeks.

The injury was announced in a statement from the club on Thursday night claiming that Shaw is “still being judged.”

He has played in both of United’s Premier League games so far this season and has been one of Erik ten Hag’s most regular players in his first season in charge.

The 28-year-old was likely to have played in their home game against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, with Tyrell Malacia his most likely replacement.

Ten Hag is expected to provide an update on team news at his press conference on Friday.

It is not the first injury to affect Old Trafford this week. Mason Mount was also sidelined for six weeks with a hamstring injury sustained in last weekend’s 2-0 defeat to Tottenham.

The result came after another uninspiring performance from the Red Devils, who were lucky enough to win their first game of the season against Wolves and were beaten in a behind-closed-door friendly against Burnley this week.

Fans will be hoping for a quick improvement in their performance after seeing them tumble to twelfth in the standings after two matches.
