Little House on the Prairie star Hersha Parady has died after battling a brain tumor.

The TV actress – who played Walnut Grove schoolteacher Alice Garvey – was 78.

Hersha died Wednesday at her son’s home in Norfolk, Virginia. Her son Jonathan Peverall confirmed the sad news The Hollywood reporter.

The retired star had been battling a brain tumor for some time, and there was one GoFundMe account set up to help deal with medical expenses.

The late actress’s son revealed that his mother was battling meningioma in a post posted to the account earlier this year.

Jonathan also wrote that he moved his mother from her home in the Los Angeles area to his residence in Virginia after her condition worsened.

The late actress’s son then shared an update on his mother’s health in late July, writing that she had “successful” surgery to mitigate the effects of her tumor.

However, the artist contracted pneumonia during her recovery period and was forced to return to a hospital, where she was placed in intensive care and remained on a ventilator after she lost consciousness.

Parady, whose birth name was Betty Sandhoff, was born on May 25, 1945 in Berea, Ohio.

The actress began her career by appearing in local theater productions before moving to Los Angeles in the early 1970s to pursue her professional aspirations.

The performer began her television career on an episode of Bearcats! that aired in 1971, and she followed it up with guest appearances on programs like The Waltons and Mannix.

The actress then auditioned for the role of Caroline Ingalls in Little House On The Prairie, although the part was eventually given to Karen Grassle.

Parady next played Eliza Anne Ingalls in an episode of the western drama series that aired in 1976.
