I’m a cleaning professional and this is how I get dirt-stained socks white again – and it works every time

A professional cleaner has revealed the easiest way to make dirt-stained socks white again.

Anita Birgesfrom Sydney, is an expert at cleaning and organizing and shared her frustration with the persistent brown stains on her family’s white socks.

“No matter how many times I wash or soak those stains, they just won’t seem to go away,” she said.

But after years of trial and error, Anita has finally found a foolproof method to rid herself of the stubborn stains permanently.

The cleaner simply coats the socks with shaving cream, then soaks them in boiling water and vinegar for four hours before washing and drying as normal.

Anita shared a video of her process going through every step of the routine.

She used an ironing set—a combination sieve and bucket—to soak the dirty white socks, but a large container works too.

The professional cleaner first poured two kettles of boiling water and a cup of white vinegar into her batter.

She then sprayed some shaving cream on each sock and rubbed them together to cover the entire length of the cloth.

Anita placed the socks in the boiling water and pulled the strainer on her hammer up and down to “move” the socks with some friction.

She soaked them for four hours and then tossed them in the washer and dryer on a normal cycle.

Many thanked her for the simple tip, and dozens shared various laundry anecdotes.

“I have to do this for my 13-year-old who thinks she should wear her formal white school socks around the house (instead of her Ugg boots) and dance studio (instead of her jazz shoes)!” wrote a mother.

“I also use lemon juice and hot water with detergent,” says another.

“Thanks so much for the cleaning hack – I’ll definitely have to try this out,” wrote a third.
