Italian tourist disgusted by ‘awful’ Australian groceries at Woolworths: ‘This is insane’
A young traveler was shocked by what she found when she visited an Australian supermarket for the first time.
Sofia Saccone from Italy stopped by a local Woolworths store on the Gold Coast earlier this month and put the “terrible” products on the shelves.
From SPC tomato and cheese spaghetti to Heinz spaghetti with meatballs, Ms Saccone called the groceries ‘Australian purchases that would put an Italian in a coma’.
In a TikTok video she held each product up to the camera and explained why she rejected it.
Holding a four-pack of SPC spaghetti in her hands, Mrs. Saccone said, “This is so bad, I can’t even explain how bad it is.”

She was disgusted that the Heinz spaghetti had an image of the pasta on a piece of sliced bread.
Mozzarella and supermarket brand pastas also fell short of what she is used to at home.
‘If you are an Italian living in Australia, never try the Woolies or Coles pasta. This is terrible,” she said, recommending “spend a little more” on alternative pasta.
Mrs. Saccone described Continental Alfredo and Kraft Mac & Cheese as “so bad” and would never buy it.
“I don’t know why, but Australia loves all these sauces,” she said, pointing to the Gravox range of ready-made gravy.
Unsurprisingly, she wasn’t a fan of McCain Vegemite pizza either — or Vegemite in general.
However, one of her absolute ‘favorite things’ to buy while grocery shopping is Woolworth’s garlic bread.
And when it comes to confectionery, she endorsed Cadbury Caramilk chocolate, which she wished was available in Italy.

The video has since been viewed over 158,000 times and some Aussies agreed with her.
‘As a full-blooded Australian I can agree with everything except the canned spaghetti. It’s so good on toast, but don’t confuse it with real spaghetti,” someone wrote.
Others encouraged Mrs. Saccone to try canned spaghetti at least once.
“I don’t even think of that canned ‘spaghetti’ as spaghetti… more like a delicious mush that I spread on toast,” admitted another.
Canned spaghetti isn’t about the spaghetti, it’s about the experience. that’s a look from childhood,’ said a third.
Someone else said, ‘I’m not sure where you are in Australia, but we have lots of Mediterranean supermarkets/deli’s that have exactly what you want!’
