Why a Gold Coast woman exploded at a pair of influencers: ‘Get a real job’
An angry woman, whose house has been repeatedly used as a photo shoot set by some influencers for several months, has let them go and told them to find legitimate employment.
Tayla Mellington and Ruby Ennor of 2021 Love Island Australia shared a series of videos on Saturday after the Gold Coast woman confronted them as they were taking pictures outside her apartment building.
The pair said they were taking photos outside Mali Residences, a luxury apartment complex on Mermaid Beach, when the woman left the building with her baby.
None of the influencers live in Mali Residences.
“We just started making some content at Mali Residences… We were there,” Tayla began.
Ruby interjected, “Mind our own business, aside.”

Tayla continued, “(We were) taking a picture of Ruby and this girl comes up and starts abusing us.
“She says, ‘You’re devaluing the property, I’m going to call the police.’ We just didn’t say anything, and she said, “You really don’t care, do you?” and I thought, “No, not really.”‘
Ruby stepped in to explain their reaction, “You know when someone attacks you, you just ignore it because we don’t channel that energy.”
“And she continued!”
Ruby claims the woman began to wonder if they were taking pictures outside other properties.
She says, “Would you like to stand in front of someone else’s house and take pictures?” and we say, “Well, yes, we do.”
Tayla continued, “She says, ‘Well, you’re invading their privacy,’ so I say, ‘I’m not going into their house, out front on the footpath we take pictures, we would never go there on anyone’s property'” .’
The woman (pictured above) told the couple to “get a real job” and made the nasty comment that if they were “more attractive” they would “get paid to model”.
Tayla and Ruby have been posting photos from outside Mali Residences (above) for several months, despite neither of them living there
Ruby said the woman’s comments then became personal with her comment on how “attractive” the pair were.
“She says, ‘Why don’t you get a real job? You don’t make money this way,'” she said.
“Then she says, ‘If you were that attractive, you’d get paid to model.”
Tayla continued, “I thought, ‘Excuse me?’ and then she raises the finger—mind you, she’s got a baby.’
The pair said they complained about the aggressive behavior and called the woman a “b**ch” when a second resident criticized their behavior.
“She said, ‘What did you say about her,’ so I said, ‘I called her a b***ch,’ Tayla said.
“I was like, ‘She just told me I’m not pretty and I’m not attractive. She said, ‘Well, she shouldn’t have said that, but we’re all tired of this.’
“So I’m like, ‘Oh my god, we’re literally not doing anything wrong.'”
Tayla shared footage of the encounter in a follow-up video, including where the upset resident told them to “get a real job.”

Dozens of Aussies sided with the residents, telling Tayla and Ruby to ‘take pictures in your own place’.
“Sorry, but it’s really annoying. It’s quite a luxury apartment complex and I don’t think the residents really want people to make noise,” wrote another.
“I’m on Karen’s side, find something better to do with your life than taking selfies,” said a third.
Not your property, but you feel you have the right to use it for a photo shoot. Who’s got the guts?” wrote another.
However, others said the residents were overly dramatic.
“Honestly, how does it affect them? Life is way too short to let such unimportant things ruin your day,” one wrote.
‘Was she old? Another girl in the same place experienced this and they caught it on camera!” said another.
“I can’t help but feel so angry about some girls getting their picture taken,” a third wrote.
