Married At First Sight stars were forced to return to their day jobs after struggling to make money as influencers and podcasters

The cast of 2023’s Married At First Sight is struggling to make ends meet as full-time influencers and appears to be much less popular than previous alumni.

Former cast members have left the show with huge audiences for their ventures into podcasting, brand sponsorships, and OnlyFans accounts, but this season’s spouses aren’t bringing home the bacon.

Most of the season 10 cast of Nine’s hit show have returned to their former jobs, and many of their social media followings stabilized after the show’s airing.

While this year’s cast has delivered some highlights, a source told me Yahoo lifestyle that “the public has gone down the reality TV-to-influencer route and hasn’t engaged as much.”

With an ongoing cost of living crisis, the source said, “the last thing people want to see spammed on their newsfeed is the Married At First Sight cast flaunting their lifestyle.”

Domenica Calarco and Ella Ding, from the 2022 season, broke records with their Sit with Us podcast, winning it with a $250,000 deal and a sold-out merchandising lineup.

But no money is coming in for the 2023 MAFS cast members who have become digital content creators, with Ollie Skelton, Tahnee Cook and Harrison Boon only podcasting part-time in addition to their day jobs.

Tahnee recently launched the Chuffed podcast and is working to build audiences at her public relations job, while Ollie’s Tosser podcast is getting rave reviews but remains a part-time project.

Meanwhile, Sandy Jawanda is back working as a dental hygienist, Tayla Winter as a nurse, and Caitlin McConville reportedly works at Melinda Willis’s beauty salon, Melly’s.

Whether the show’s next season will bring in more high-earning influencers or whether this trend of returning to the real world will continue remains to be seen.

Season 11 of MAFS will feature a diverse mix of contestants, including a public relations expert, personal trainer, wedding celebrant, professional kickboxer and nutrition coach.

It will also feature the show’s “oldest groom ever”: a 62-year-old motivational speaker.
