East Adelaide School bomb threat: Students are advised to remain at home after menacing email sent to St Peters campus

A primary school in Adelaide has been evacuated after an email bomb threat.

East Adelaide School has urged parents to keep students home on Tuesday while police investigate the incident.

Dozens of students who were already at school in St. Peters have already been evacuated from the grounds as the campus was closed.

In an email to parents, director Vicki Stravinski said the education department had advised all families to keep their children with them during the ongoing incident.

“We will notify you as soon as possible if children may be present,” she wrote.

About 600 students are enrolled in primary school for kindergarten through sixth grade.

It is understood that it was one of several schools and care facilities in Adelaide to receive a bomb threat on Tuesday morning, raising alarm among concerned parents across the city.

South Australian Police confirmed they are investigating a spate of email threats against schools and healthcare facilities across the state in recent days.

An investigation has been launched into the source of the threats.

“Police have launched an investigation into the source of these threats and will prosecute any person identified as involved in the spread of these threats,” a police spokesman said.

“Companies are reminded to follow normal security protocols if they are the recipient of any of these threats.”

The Department of Education has been contacted for comment.
