Everton have condemned ‘vile’ racist insults towards midfielder Amadou Onana.
The 22-year-old shared a screenshot of an Instagram message he received, which read, “Useless monkey.”
It comes a week after the club denounced the abuse of Neil Maupay, who received a message saying: ‘Hello, I hope your mother is in the grave!’
“Everton strongly condemns any form of racist and discriminatory abuse against our players,” the club statement read after Onana shared the abuse.
“Such abuse is vile and will not and should not be tolerated. The club is conducting an investigation to identify the person responsible and will also support the police in any investigation they conduct.

“We should all take a zero-tolerance stance by reporting such behavior to social media platforms and authorities. Racism has no place online, in our stadiums or in our communities.”
Onana played in Everton’s 4-0 defeat to Aston Villa in the Midlands on Sunday.
