- A 29-year-old female driver from Belle Mead, New Jersey, is in custody awaiting charges after mowing down seven pedestrians in Manhattan at 11:55 p.m. Sunday

A New Jersey woman has been detained by police after she mowed down seven pedestrians in a bloody hit and run in Manhattan just before midnight.
The 29-year-old female motorist drove into bystanders at the crosswalk between West 36th Street and 6th Avenue in her black Honda Accord at 11:55 p.m. Sunday, leaving six men and a woman sprawled across the street.
Graphic videos of the aftermath show several casualties on the ground – many unconscious and covered in blood.
NYPD told DailyMail.com the motorist ran a red light before hitting people crossing the road — six men ages 24, 27, 28, 30, 32 and 61, along with a 34-year-old woman.
The victims are said to be mostly New Yorkers, with one or two tourists. All were taken to area hospitals with the exception of the 30-year-old man who refused to go, police said.

An NYPD spokesperson said their injuries ranged from “general complaint of anxiety to a broken leg.”
Meanwhile, the motorist continued for about 13 miles before colliding with two more vehicles off the Long Island Expressway near Clearview, Queens.
NYPD said the Belle Mead woman remains in custody and has not yet been charged.
Miraculously, all pedestrians and other motorists involved in her rampage are expected to survive.

An employee at a nearby Taco Bell who sprang into action in the aftermath said all seven pedestrians did not react as he ran into the street.
“I gave them water and tissues to clean everything up. It was a very dangerous accident,” he told Pix11.
Footage from the scene shows people stepping between their bodies as they try to check their vitals, while one man is on the phone with emergency services.
