FBI ‘didn’t investigate Prince Andrew’s links to paedophile Jeffrey Epstein because he’s a royal’, lawyer for billionaire sex offender’s victims claims in new US documentary

US security services have not investigated ties between Prince Andrew and pedophile Jeffrey Epstein because he was a member of the royal family, a lawyer representing victims of the billionaire sex offender has claimed.

Attorney Lisa Bloom told the upcoming US documentary Secrets of Prince Andrew that the FBI took no action against witnesses who could be interviewed about the Duke of York’s possible connections to Epstein.

Ms Bloom, who represents five of Epstein’s victims and a witness who says she saw Andrew with prosecutor Virginia Giuffre as a teenager, said it was decided that those at the “highest level” decided not to go after the prince, the Mirror reports.

The lawyer was reportedly confused that Andrew’s infamous interview with Emily Maitlis on BBC Newsnight in 2019 was not used by the FBI because he said things that “they could probably refute.”

In the now-famous interview, Prince Andrew claimed he was at a ‘Pizza Express in Woking’ when he allegedly had sex with then-17-year-old Virginia Roberts, as she was then known, on March 10. 2001.

The Duke also claimed he was unable to sweat due to an ‘adrenaline overdose’ after serving in the Falklands War as proof that he did not sweat over Mrs Giuffre on a dance floor.

Andrew also refused to speak to investigators under oath after they reportedly applied to the British government for an interview.

Speaking to US documentary Secrets of Prince Andrew, Ms. Bloom said: “The FBI has clearly decided not to go after Prince Andrew.”

She questioned whether the decision had been made at a high level for fear of diplomatic problems and tensions in relations with the UK.

Ms Bloom said she believed the inquiry would have gone ahead “if this was someone who wasn’t a royal”.

The attorney told the documentary that if another person was under investigation, the FBI would have spoken to witnesses and extradited him to the United States to “stand trial” if they could find enough evidence.

She also labeled Prince Andrew “stunningly arrogant” for his decision to go on Newsight just three months after 66-year-old Epstein died in his prison cell.

Andrew would have thought the public would “see how wonderful I am,” Ms Bloom claimed. But she said the interview had the opposite effect.

Ms Giuffre claimed that Prince Andrew sexually assaulted her when she was a minor, so if found guilty by a court for this, “he could have spent many years in prison,” Ms Bloom said.

She said the interview “could be used in court” and was a “disaster” for the prince who made claims that the FBI could “probably” prove to be untrue.

And also speaking of the 2021 lawsuit brought against the Duke of York by Ms Giuffre, who accused him of rape and sexual assault, which he strenuously denied, she said he lost it ‘in a very big way’.

Andrew settled out of court for a reported £12 million but admitted no liability.
