Vivek Ramaswamy blames woke Obama crony for horrific Maui death toll
Presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy said the man who supports former President Barack Obama to manage Hawaii’s water resources is responsible for the magnitude of deaths from the Maui wildfires.
While at least 114 people have been confirmed dead, an estimated 1,300 people are still missing from the devastation in Hawaii.
Ramaswamy said at a conservative conference in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday that the level of destruction would definitely be reduced if the water could reach areas of the former several hours earlier.
The biotech millionaire also slammed President Joe Biden for the delay in reaching the island to show his support for the people of Maui as Republicans continue to hound the government for giving less aid and attention than the US to Ukraine there. have given.
Vivek Ramaswamy, hopeful for 2024, says DEI, or diversity, equity and inclusion policy, has led to a five-hour delay in getting water for firefighters battling the Maui fires
Ramaswamy says the delay caused a lot of destruction and may even have led to more deaths. The death toll from the Maui fires rose to 114 on Saturday and more than 1,000 people are still missing
“If we don’t learn from our mistakes, we’re destined to make them again,” Ramaswamy told conservative radio host Erick Erickson at his The Gathering conference in Atlanta.
He laid out his theory of why the first got so out of hand: “There was an Obama-appointed, climate change activist, who also believes as part of this larger Earth Gaia-centric worldview that water rights should be protected. . That led to a five to six hour delay in the critical time frame to get water to put out those fires.”
“We’ll never know, although certain signs indicate that we could very well have prevented those catastrophic deaths – many of them – had the water reached the scene of the fires in time,” he continued. “And I’m bringing this up because we’re destined to repeat our mistakes again unless we learn from the mistakes we’ve already made.”
The flaw, he claims, is that DEI, or diversity, equality, and inclusion, dominates the decisions of American leaders.
“There is a dark but hard TRUTH about the Maui disaster that resulted in over 110 tragic deaths. As wildfires raged, desperate residents petitioned state officials to send more water for firefighting and to help protect their property from fire. That request went unanswered for hours, withholding critical assistance from islanders,” Ramaswamy tweeted Thursday.
“Now we are learning that the official who delayed approval is an Obama Foundation Asia Pacific Leader and a climate activist who believes that water should be ‘revered’ first and foremost,” he continued. ‘The DEI agenda is literally costing people their lives. Hawaii’s Democratic Governor Josh Green says there are people who are “battling the release of water to fight fires” and that this should be explored further.
“The number one responsibility of government is to protect its citizens. The victims and their families deserve the TRUTH.”
Ramaswamy blames the deputy director of the Hawaii Commission for Water Resource Management M. Kaleo Manuel for the five-hour delay in getting more water for firefighters to fight the fires. Manuel is part of the Obama Foundation Asia-Pacific Leaders
M. Kaleo Manuel is serving his second term as Deputy Director of the Hawaii Commission for Water Resource Management (CWRM), which is charged with administering the State Water Code. He is one of 200 inaugural Obama leaders representing the Asia-Pacific region with the Obama Foundation.
West Maui Land Co. Inc. sent a letter to Manuel on August 10 warning him of a communications problem that had occurred the day before, when they contacted CWRM to warn that the firefighters battling the wildfires were running out of water from the reservoirs and were unable to access ask for nearby streams.
In the letter, West Maui Land also sought additional resources for fire control.
CWRM responded by asking if the Maui Fire Department was the entity requesting use of the streams, and gave West Maui Land Co. the command to also check with a downstream user to ensure that stream usage would not be affected by the redirect.
It was five hours after the initial request for permission was granted, after which there was “a flare-up that shut down the Lahaina Bypass.”
Ramaswamy says the whole ordeal is part of a bigger problem with DEI catching up with the real priorities of vital entities.
“We see this in one disaster after another, all symptoms of a deeper problem. In the case of Maui, let’s talk about what really led to those disastrous deaths,” he said in reference to DEI and the Obama-backed official.
“This is a hard truth because it’s a sensitive situation – my heart goes out to the people who are suffering in Maui. Helping them, I think, is one of our main objectives,” he added.
“I find it downright embarrassing that we have an American president who has not been physically there, let alone provided the level of assistance I believe is necessary to help the residents there.”
