Tim Scott berates ‘Joy Blackface Behar’ for refusing to ‘show up’ during his The View interview

Senator Tim Scott (RS.C.) responded to his appearance on The View by saying he “looks forward” to conflict, but objected to Joy Behar for skipping his interview, despite her remarks bringing him to the table.

The 2024 GOP candidate referenced claims that Behar darkened her skin on Halloween in the 1970s when she dressed as an African woman. Speaking to a crowd of conservatives in Atlanta on Friday, Scott called the talk show host “Joy Blackface Behar.”

Scott, the only black Republican U.S. senator, is one of six 2024 hopefuls at conservative radio personality Erick Erickson’s The Gathering conference.

“It was a fascinating experience for them and it was an interesting experience for me,” Scott said when asked if he would appear on The View in June. “People think because I’m optimistic and positive that maybe I’m just a nice guy and that’s all. The truth is, if you’re saying something disgusting, offensive, and blatantly wrong, I’m the guy you don’t want to see.”

South Carolina Senator Tim Scott criticized The View host Joy Behar for not appearing on his episode where he went on to address her criticism that he wouldn’t be a Republican if he understood the race issues in the US

Scott dubbed the host Joy “Blackface” Behar, a reference to criticism she received for a 1970s Halloween costume that made her appear to darken her skin when she dressed as an African woman.

And going through The View to have a conversation about their comments and going toe-to-toe with Whoopi and the rest of the hosts – sadly Joy ‘Blackface’ Behar decided not to show up for the talk she started,” Scott said to some cheers, mockery, and laughter.

“I look forward to that kind of conflict because I want to solve the problem,” he added. “You don’t have to be an exception if you’re African American to succeed in this world. All you have to do is go as high as your character and your perseverance and hard work will take you.”

Scott’s appearance on The View came after Behar said on the show earlier in the summer that he wouldn’t be a Republican if he really understood race issues.

The senator did not appreciate those comments and decided to go on the show to present his message and describe why he is a Republican and why he does not feel black people are at a disadvantage in the country.

But Behar didn’t compete against Scott because she wasn’t in the episode the 2024 hopeful appeared in, as she usually leaves on Mondays.

Erickson said his appearance on The View was the biggest chatter among conference attendees who were able to ask questions online ahead of the event.

Scott gave his mother Frances Scott, who was in the audience, a big hug at the start of his Q&A with Erickson on Friday morning.

While Scott admits that his grandfather and mother lived in times when they had to be the “exception” to succeed as black Americans, he said that we now live in a different, evolved America.

“Me, born in the 1960s – our country has evolved to the point where listening to the women of The View tell me I don’t know what it means to be black in America, tell me you have to be an exception and not just the rule to succeed in this nation. Don’t get me worked up about defending the nation I love.”

He also said Critical Race Theory should be removed from every American curriculum. CRT has been widely opposed by Republicans who claim it teaches that America is an inherently racist country.

“We should spend less time in the rearview mirror and more time with the big windshield of this country’s future,” Scott said Friday. “Let’s define and decide the future for ourselves.”

“Let’s make our children stronger, not with indoctrination but with education. Let’s go back to the good old mode A, B and C and let’s eliminate CRT. Those thoughts are destroying the left,” he complained.

Scott is the only candidate called up by America’s first and only black president, Barack Obama. He explained that the criticism came because Obama and others on the radical left dislike his optimistic message for black Americans.

Speaking Friday at a conservative conference in Atlanta, Georgia, Scott said it’s “confusion” that he has an optimistic message for black Americans because it ruins their story.

“That ruffles the feathers of the left,” he described. “Their whole identity politics falls apart when we realize that as a nation we have come to the point where our future will be determined by the quality of our education… That is America’s future. They can hardly stand it. They don’t like speaking the truth.’

The South Carolina senator also went on the offensive against President Joe Biden.

“We picked the wrong one,” Scott said of the president when asked why he officially declared that American doesn’t have the weaponry needed to defend ourselves after supplying so much ammunition to Ukraine in its war with Russia.

“Here’s my summary: It’s time to fire Joe Biden, it’s time to fire Merrick Garland, and it’s time to fire Christopher Wry. We have to clean up the entire Justice Department, we have to clean up the White House staff, we have to clean up all political appointees so that we can restore the trust and integrity of the American people.”

He also said, “We are restoring confidence and we are resolving the problems and confusions we see from President Biden by having a president who can walk and chew gum at the same time. No pun intended.’
