Coldplay ‘are sued by former manager Dave Holmes’ over ‘contractual dispute’ following 22-year relationship

Coldplay are being sued by their former manager Dave Holmes over a ‘contractual dispute’, according to a new report.

The band – frontman Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, drummer Will Champion – reportedly parted ways with Dave in secret 12 months ago, after working together for 22 years.

He spent almost their entire career at Coldplay, starting as their manager in 2001 after Phil Harvey stepped down and took on the role of creative director instead.

Despite the silent farewell, Dave has reportedly now filed a lawsuit in the UK, with Coldplay’s spokesperson confirming the news Variety.

Their first manager, Phil, and Mandi Frost and Arlene Moon, who worked with Dave for many years, have now taken over.

MailOnline has reached out to the band’s representative for comment.

It comes after news that Coldplay is reportedly in advanced talks to headline Glastonbury 2024.

The band – who previously headlined the event in 2002, 2005, 2011 and 2016 – have reportedly left room in their 2024 schedules to perform at the iconic festival for a fifth time. The sun reports.

The group, led by Chis Martin, recently announced new European dates for their Music Of The Spheres world tour on Wednesday.

And there’s a suspicious break in concerts from June 26 to June 30, which happens to be when Glastonbury takes place.

Coldplay have announced a string of 16 new dates for their 2024 European tour, with the final two nights in Dublin.

The dates are in the summer, so there is plenty of time to build up excitement.

The new dates were announced after they completed the UK leg of their massive world tour, which included six nights at London’s Wembley Stadium.

Coldplay is known for their extravagant shows and bizarre stage surprises.

Chris previously revealed the reason behind the band’s wacky tour guests – which include alien head masks and puppet bands.

While sharing that “it allows us to be more free,” the frontman also explained that his bandmates β€” guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, and drummer Will Champion β€” put most of his ideas out there because they “have to to feel’ .

While also taking the stage of sold out shows to perform wearing a rubber alien mask.

Explaining that the reason for the mask is that it shows their belief “in the equality of all men and all beings.”

Speaking to ColdplayXtra, Chris explained, “The aliens and all that stuff, it’s allegorical. It’s us who talk about life on Earth, but without naming names, because we don’t really like criticism or finger pointing.

β€œBut with alien heads, we say that we really believe in the equality of all people and all beings. So if people say they don’t really get it, that’s okay with me, maybe not for everyone.”

β€œIt’s only for about six minutes. It allows us to go even freer and that’s the whole reason we exist today – to be free and to encourage others to be free.”

And while Coldplay’s live shows may seem filled to the brim with excitement, Chris also shared that he suggests much more β€” with his ideas vetoed by bandmates.

Chris laid the final decision down with bandmate Will, sharing that the drummer ‘must feel it’: ‘For every idea you see on stage, there have been about 51 where Will said, ‘No way’. But that’s how it works. He must feel it. As soon as he feels it, we’ll do it.’

Describing Will as “the heart and anchor of the band,” the star explained it should resonate with his friend.
