Taminmin College school camp: Children missing in remote part of Australia, desperate search launched

A desperate search continues for two students who disappeared from a remote campsite during a school field trip in the Northern Territory.

Two high school students from Taminmin College in Humpty Doo did not return to the Jabiru campground on Thursday night.

The students were at a school camp 200 km from home at the time.

Taminmin College Principal John Harris discussed the incident in a school newsletter Friday.

“Police have been notified and are working with the families to find and return the two missing students to their homes,” Harris wrote.

“The other students who attended the camp have returned to the school and will be supported by the school staff and dean.

“Our school is working with the families of the missing students and also recognize(s) that this incident may be distressing to others, so please contact me if you believe your child(ren) may need further support.”

Jabiru is located 256 km south of Darwin and is the main municipality in Kakadu National Park.
