Bayern Munich move to former Man United star David de Gea ‘is OUT after Thomas Tuchel vetoed signing’

  • Bayern Munich have reportedly called off a deal for 32-year-old David de Gea
  • German giants were keen to sign the former Manchester United goalkeeper
  • But according to reports in Germany, manager Thomas Tuchel has blocked the transfer

According to reports in Germany, David de Gea’s proposed move to Bayern Munich has fallen through.

Goalkeeper De Gea is a free agent after leaving Manchester United this summer.

While the Spaniard performed well overall last season, he made a number of high-profile mistakes and manager Erik ten Hag declined a contract offer, allowing the stopper to leave for free when his contract expired.

German giant Bayern are said to be in talks for a deal for the 32-year-old free agent amid No 1 Manuel Neuer’s injury.

But Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg tweeted: ‘FC Bayern will not sign David De Gea either. It’s decided. Tuchel has vetoed it, especially as Manuel Neuer’s return is expected within weeks.

As reported: Tuchel pushed for (Manchester City deputy Stefan) Ortega and had a phone call with him – but the deal is now almost done.

Talks have taken place with De Gea. He was willing to join FC Bayern. But it’s finished now.’

Neuer, 37, is returning from a long-term injury after breaking his leg in a freak skiing accident.

His understudy Sven Ulreich was among the sticks for Bayern’s first game of the season, the German Super Cup against RB Leipzig, but Tuchel and Co lost 3-0.

Plettenberg claims that with Neuer returning in a few weeks, Bayern will be happy with Ulreich until the veteran returns to action.

It was also reported that De Gea’s wage demands were too high for Bayern, who lost first-choice keeper Yann Sommer to Inter Milan last season. Sommer replaced Andre Onana, signed to succeed De Gea as United’s No 1 by Ten Hag.

It is also believed that Real Madrid turned down the chance to pick up De Gea for nothing, instead signing Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan to cover Thibaut Courtois’ injury.

With Manchester City unwilling to sell Ederson’s backup Stefan Ortega to the Bavarian side, Bayern are said to be in the ‘final stages’ of signing Maccabi Tel Aviv goalkeeper Daniel Peretz.
