‘It’s over for Ron’: Trump cheers new poll showing Vivek Ramaswamy overtaking DeSantis for the number two spot in the 2024 GOP primaries – still miles behind him

  • Former President Donald Trump applauded a poll that showed Vivek Ramaswamy coming in second, ahead of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis
  • The RMG poll found Trump at 60 percent, Ramaswamy at 13 percent and DeSantis at just 8 percent
  • “Go to Florida, Ron,” Trump said on Truth Social

Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday cheered a new poll that showed entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy had jumped Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to second place among Republican 2024 hopefuls.

Both candidates were far behind the ex-president.

On Truth Social, Trump pointed to an RMG Research survey that showed he had the support of 60 percent of Republican voters, followed by Ramaswamy at 13 percent and DeSantis at just 8 percent.

It’s over for Ron DeSanctimonious, now in 3rd place. Ramaswamy now 2nd. RMG Research,” Trump wrote. “Go home to Florida, Ron, and work on insurance costs, the highest in the country!”

Trump made similar comments when speaking to DailyMail.com this weekend.

Prior to his fourth indictment, Trump appeared at the Iowa State Fair on Saturday — the same day DeSantis toured the grounds.

There, the Trump campaign was trolling DeSantis at every turn.

While DeSantis was participating in Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds’ Fair-Side chat, a plane was heard carrying a banner reading, “Be Likeable Ron!”

Trump then circled his plane, dubbed “Trump Force One,” over the fairgrounds while DeSantis and his family cooked pork chops.

The ex-president boasted to DailyMail.com that his crowd was much larger than DeSantis’s and that Florida’s governor should drop out.

“He didn’t have a lot of people show up,” Trump said of Florida’s governor. ‘That is not good. He’s doing very badly in the polls. Very, very bad. And I think he’ll be out of the race soon, I think.”

Asked if he would debate DeSantis, Trump replied, “He really should leave the race.”

The ex-president has hinted that he will skip the first GOP debate, scheduled for next Wednesday in Milwaukee.

Trump said he will announce his plans for debate night early next week.

On Wednesday, the DeSantis-aligned PAC Never Back Down trolled Trump for flirting with skipping the first debate.

“We can’t afford a nominee too weak to debate,” says the narrator in the Never Back Down ad. “Republicans need a candidate with stamina.”

“We deserve a candidate who deserves our vote – not someone asking for it,” the ad reads.

While Ramaswamy, a 38-year-old anti-watch entrepreneur, has risen in the polls, he has largely stayed out of Trump’s line of fire, largely because he has been complimentary of the 77-year-old former president.
