Would you pay $2,500 a month to wash your dishes in the BATHROOM? NYC rental goes viral as it comes without a kitchen sink

Would you pay $2,500 a month to wash your dishes in the BATHROOM? NYC rental is going viral because it doesn’t have a sink

With rents reaching record highs in New York City, residents are likely expecting to miss out on a few luxuries in their next apartment.

But they seem to be drawing the line at sinkless life — at least that’s the consensus on TikTok.

A video of a $2,500-a-month studio without a sink in the kitchen has gone viral on the video-sharing app, as one real estate agent explains that residents should wash their hands in the bathroom instead.

Commentators were quick to slam the outrageously small home — which is less than 15 square feet — claiming that the “refrigerator has more room than the apartment.”

A video posted to the “NYC Sales and Rentals” page shows a tour of the entire space, as one real estate agent explains, “That’s all.” This is the whole.

“This is the best I’ve ever seen in less than 150 square feet. Period of time.’

The clip shows a downstairs area with an oven, microwave and small living space.

A ladder on a wall then allows a resident to climb to a raised platform that provides enough space to set up a bed.

The estate agent explains: ‘Nobody said it’s ideal, but if you sleep upstairs, you actually have living space downstairs.’

Showing off the kitchen — which comes complete with a four-burner stove, microwave, and full-sized refrigerator and freezer — he adds, “I think you’re using the sink in the bathroom…which is actually kind of nice.” It’s small, but it works.’

The video does not say exactly where the apartment is located in New York.

Commentators were not impressed with the offer, especially given the high rent.

One of them wrote, “Can’t fathom the idea of doing the dishes in the bathroom sink.”

Another said, ‘It’s not an apartment. It’s a ROOM.’

A third commenter said, “The refrigerator has more space than the actual apartment.”

The video exposes the magnitude of New York’s rental crisis, with rents rising 30 percent since 2019.

A recent report by Miller Samuel and Douglas Elliman shows that the average rent in the Big Apple has now reached $4,400 per month.

The average cost of a studio is $3,278, while a three-bedroom apartment is worth $10,673 monthly.

Jonathan Miller, CEO of Miller Samuel, told NBC last week, “It looks like rents are approaching the tipping point.

‘We see transactions disappear because of affordability.’

The report noted that the number of new leases this month is down 6 percent compared to last year – despite summer being the new rental season.
