Aussies share the rage-inducing phrases and words that ‘trigger’ them no matter what state they’re in: ‘This makes my eyes twitch’

People share the simple phrases that would send any Australian into a fit of rage.

Aussies said phrases like ‘Unexpected item in the packing room’, ‘You have a new message in your myGov inbox’ or ‘Throw another shrimp on the barbie’ are sure to spark outrage.

They also pointed out calling Fosters an Aussie beer, saying Marmite is better than Vegemite or calling pavlova a Kiwi invention will anger Australians.

A reddit thread asking people to ‘trigger an Australian with one sentence’ generated hundreds of responses and led to lively discussion.

‘You have a new message in your myGov inbox’ was the most popular response with over 1,200 users agreeing that the notification would give most Australians ‘chills’.

There were many entries related to food and drink, with one woman saying the phrase “throw another shrimp on the barbie” made her “twitch the eye”

“Unexpected item in the packing room,” another person said to which someone replied, “This one sure does set my feathers.”

“If rent is too expensive, just buy a house,” said one Aussie, and a second added, “Tomato sauce 75 cents each.”

One person said they hate it when tourists don’t realize how big the country is and think they can drive from city to city in just a few hours.
