Mauricio Pochettino claims he is on the cusp of something special with Chelsea after seeing his first Premier League game with The Blues end 1-1 against Liverpool.
As the hosts fell behind at Stamford Bridge, Axel Disasi scored on his debut for Chelsea to level the scores and eventually finish with a point from their opening game.
When asked by BBC’s Match of the Day whether a draw was a fair result, Pochettino replied: ‘I don’t believe it is. I think overall we deserved a little more. We feel satisfied, but disappointed at the same time because we wanted to win and we deserved to win, but it’s just the beginning.
‘We have created a very good way of working here and that is important. It’s about faith and about work and trusting each other. The connection from day one was fantastic.
“The fans were always with us. Even in the difficult moment they were there, they never gave up and always believed in the team and the team felt the energy of the crowd.

“It was difficult from the start, but how we grew in the game and how we found the way to play and how we started to dominate and push Liverpool deeper and deeper, I’m very pleased with everything.
“We have to grow every day.”
Pochettino was appointed Chelsea manager this summer following a turbulent boss merry-go-round over the past 12 months.
It was his first time back in the Premier League since parting ways with Tottenham Hotspur in 2019, and speaking to MOTD about this, the Argentina coach said: ‘The Premier League after four years (away) is a fantastic way to start the season. I really enjoyed the match.’
During his post-match contract talk with broadcaster Sky Sports, Pochettino said: “It was difficult for us in the beginning because Liverpool were full of energy and they pressed on really well. We made some mistakes and we were a bit lucky not to conced a second goal , because then the game would have looked very different.
“Then the team reacted very well and we started to dominate. In the second half we did better and created chances. I think we only conceded one shot on target and that was a goal.
“You have to be happy against a team like Liverpool. It’s just the beginning, so this is the minimum standard.’
