Fresh iPhone 15 Pro leaks hint at the raw power of Apple’s next flagship phone
The iPhone 15 leaks don’t seem to be stopping as we approach its expected September launch – and a few bits of new information have given us a better idea of ββjust how powerful the Pro handset could get.
First to tipster @NaveenTechWala (through Notebook check), who claims to have seen benchmarks of an iPhone 15 Pro with the Apple A17 Bionic processor. The scores are very impressive indeed, hypothetically better than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and a significant increase over the A16 Bionic CPU.
Now neither the A17 Bionic nor the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 have been officially announced or appeared in any phones, so we wouldn’t put too much weight on these benchmark scores. At the same time, they do suggest that Apple’s next mobile processor will be impressively fast when it arrives.
The A17 Bionic is expected to be mounted in the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, with the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus using the A16 Bionic chipset that the Pro models launched last year currently use.
More RAM, maybe
Our other leak comes from there @URedditor (through GSMArena), and suggests that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max may include 8GB of RAM when they arrive. This would set a new high bar for the iPhone in terms of internal storage, with current Pro models coming in at 6GB.
This is actually a follow-up to a rumor from the same source a few days ago, which reported that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max were sticking to 6GB. At that stage, 8 GB of RAM was said to be “unlikely”.
According to the new information, Apple has tested both 6 GB and 8 GB of RAM with the A17 Bionic processor, and at this stage it is not clear which one Apple will choose. Rumors of an 8GB model have been circulating for almost a year.
We’ll have to wait for the big reveal of these phones to know for sure what specs they’ll include, but the steady stream of leaks so far means we’ve got a pretty good idea of ββwhat to expect. The announcement could be on September 12 or 13.
