The Argentine socialite who calls Meghan Markle her ‘sister’: how Delfina Blaquier – married to Prince Harry’s polo friend Nacho Figueras – is the Duchess’s new best friend

Their husbands have been traveling to Tokyo and Singapore all week to play polo – but Meghan Markle and Delfina Blaquier appear to be just as good friends as Prince Harry and Nacho Figueras.

The women have forged a strong friendship after attending polo matches together to watch their husbands play.

Argentine socialite and businesswoman Delfina, 42, has even previously referred to the Duchess of Sussex, 41, as a ‘sister’ when she gushed about the ‘fellow polo woman’ in an Instagram post in 2022.

She also praised the mother-of-two as “stronger than she knows” in an interview with Hello! magazine in the same year.

After a glamorous polo match in Aspen, Colorado, Delfina said, “(Meghan) is so amazing and strong. Stronger than she knows. I like being around my friends and will always support her.”

In an earlier interview with the publicationDelfina also revealed that the pair called themselves the “P Wives,” which stands for “Polo Wives.”

Delfina has been married to the millionaire polo player, whose full name is Ignacio Figueras, since 2005 – and the couple attended the royal wedding together in 2018.

Since the Sussexes moved to the US, where Nacho and Harry play polo together at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club, Meghan and Delfina have also become close friends.

Last summer, Delfina shared a loving message about the Duchess of Sussex on her social media account, saying it was “so special” to spend time with her.

Delfina posted a photo of the couple watching their husbands compete at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club, writing, “M – looking forward to many more of these times with you and H.

“It was so special to spend these two months together. I wish everyone knew you for who you are.’

She continued, “My sister, my now fellow “pwife” (polo woman) genius of yours for coming up with this. Can’t wait to see you again soon, to share excitement, walks and just more relaxed time.”

Delfina added, “You have my respect too. Keep walking, steady and strong. Listen to your heart, it will guide you well, for you have a big one and it is a beautiful one. I love you my darling.’

Delfina first met her husband Nacho at a polo match in Buenos Aires in 1997. They began dating in early 1998 and welcomed their first son in 2000, and were married in December 2005.

The couple now have four children together: Hilario; Aurora; Artemo; and Alba.

Described by Tatler as “the David Beckham of Polo,” Nacho now has a six-goal handicap and an estimated net worth of $30 million and has modeled for Ralph Lauren since 2000.

He and Harry have been playing side-by-side in charity matches for the past ten years, eventually becoming good friends.

Both Prince Harry and Nacho regularly play in Sentebale’s charity matches to raise money for Sentebale, an organization co-founded by Prince Harry that supports children and young people affected by HIV in southern Africa.

Speaking of his friendship with the royal family, Nacho told Town and Country magazine in 2019: “What I love most about him is how genuine he is and how serious he is about improving the lives of children who are not the blessings we’ve had. had.’

Nacho has been to Lesotho three times with Prince Harry, most recently opening the Mamohato Center together in 2015.

Delfina, the daughter of an Argentine polo player, grew up in Buenos Aires. Until the age of 18, she was an athlete and represented her country in several high jump competitions.

She went to college and graduated with a degree in landscape design before becoming a professional model and photographer.

While her family spends a lot of time on the road, they are based outside of Buenos Aires, where they own a 10-acre ranch with some 40 world-class polo horses in 38,750-square-foot stables designed by Argentine architect Juan Ignacio Ramos.

Their childhood home is just a five minute walk from the stables.

Writing on her blog, Delfina revealed that her children are homeschooled as a result of their nomadic lifestyle, as the family travels the world for Nacho’s career.

Besides supporting her husband’s career and taking care of her children, Delfina has a busy creative career. In 2018, she co-founded the fashion brand Àcheval Pampa, whose label debuted at Paris Fashion Week AW18.

The designs are inspired by her Argentinian heritage and achieve an elevated gaucho style, an equestrian fashion of South American cowboys.

She also spends a lot of time on We Are Figueras, her fashion and lifestyle blog she created to share her family’s travels.

On the blog she writes: ‘As the kids get older I felt I had to work on something for myself, I consider myself a creative type of person and all had ideas for something fun to do.

‘Making a blog was a lot of fun and a lot of work. I thought it was a great idea to give my opinion and share with you things that I like to do, see, watch, get or even visit.

“There’s so much out there, and I thought it would be a good idea to do it everywhere I was.”

The polo couple have been friends with Prince Harry for years and were among the few to attend one of the most exclusive events of the decade: the royal family’s wedding to Meghan in 2018.
