In a statement to the outlet, she said heartbroken, “I am so grateful to all the friends and family who have reached out and expressed their condolences.”
“My mother was a beautiful, kind and loving woman and she was everything I hope to be. As a mother, she was loving, kind, and supportive.”
“She was above all my best friend and I will miss her every day of my life. I understand this is a part of life and something we can all really support each other with, which is the loss of someone we love,” added Shanna.
The former model was previously married to Blink-182 drummer, Travis Barker, from 2004 until their divorce was finalized in 2008.
During their relationship, the couple welcomed son Landon, 19, and daughter Alabama, 17. She also welcomed daughter, Atiana, 24, with ex and former professional boxer, Oscar De La Hoya.
In an article published on Page six on Thursday — a day before announcing her father’s death — Shanna specifically defended her daughter, Alabama, and her rap career.

“I love her rap career. My kids grew up on a tour bus from birth,” said Shanna. “Every creed, every race will love hip-hop and rap, that’s not going to change.”
“So to me, it’s a very natural progression for (Alabama), because she’s been in the studio with her dad with the best musicians in the world,” the mom-of-three continued.
“I think her dad understands both the nature of the industry (and) that genre of music. I think there’s a real love for it, and I think there’s a deep respect for it as well. I know they wouldn’t do anything without that respect.’
Shanna later told the outlet, “I know what people say about Alabama, but she has a confidence that a lot of kids her age don’t have.”
