The tour, which began in 2018, was a runaway success for Elton, grossing $816,840,988 worldwide.
The star has opted to hang up his boots, citing a desire to spend more time with David and their children.
He said, “Touring is exhausting for me now and it takes me away from my family and my children.”
Elton added, however, that he hasn’t given up on performing for good and will probably still “play the occasional show” every now and then.
Family is important to Elton, who previously called his sons “the best thing” in his and husband David’s lives.
On The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2016, he said, “If you had told me ten years ago that I would be on your show, married to the man I love and have two beautiful children, I would have said, ‘You put acid in my drink.”
“But life brings you challenges and life throws you curveballs — great curveballs — and these two kids have come at a time when I never thought I’d have kids.
“There are no words to describe how much we love these guys. They’re just great.’
