Noel Gallagher, 56, struggles to remember words from iconic Oasis hits as he ages and jokes: ‘Can’t wait to get my mobility scooter’

Noel Gallagher has revealed that he sometimes struggles to remember the lyrics to Oasis’ greatest hits as he approaches his 60th birthday.

The music legend, 56, who is currently on the road with his band High Flying Birds, blamed the memory loss on the ‘continuous march of time’ and joked that he would soon need a mobility scooter.

Narrate Matt Morgan on his Patreon podcast: ‘I found myself consciously thinking on this tour, “What’s the next line of this song?” ‘.

The musician who penned hits like WonderWall and Don’t Look Back in Anger added, “It’s like you just have to think about it.”

He further revealed that “eventually” he would need an autocue on stage to join the likes of Sir Elton John, 76, and Sir Paul McCartney, 81.

He continued: ‘My 40s was my absolute highlight – but from the moment I woke up on May 30 on my first day of my 50s, it was just one thing after another’.

“What I’ve discovered is that the slightest punch stays with you for a long time and then it’s something else.

Before cheekily adding ‘I can’t wait to get my scooter, if I’m being honest’.

Noel and his brother and Oasis bandmate Liam, 50, have been embroiled in a very public feud since Oasis broke up at their last concert in Paris in 2009 with rumors of a reunion recently emerging.

It comes after MailOnline exclusively revealed that Noel was having a good time in a £2,500-a-night hotel suite in the aftermath of his marriage.

The rocker lives in luxury at Claridge’s in London’s Mayfair while awaiting the refurbishment of his new flat in nearby Maida Vale.

Noel said during the same podcast appearance “II’m in Claridge’s… my flat – there is building work going on at my new flat in Maida Vale, so I’ll look into that.

“I’m going to Oppenheimer, some drunken lunches, nights out, that sort of thing.”

It’s clear that Noel is in one of the expensive hotel’s entry-level suites, which is equipped with a fireplace and piano – which will no doubt provide inspiration for new hits.

The star has a reported net worth of £57 million.

But it was a tough time for Noel, his shock split with wife Sara MacDonald, 51, came in January after 12 years of marriage.

The Wonderwall singer also said in a new podcast with his best friend Matt how he kept the £8 million South Downs mansion in Hampshire where he lived with Sara and their two sons Donovan, 15, and Sonny, 12.

A source close to the veteran rocker said: ‘Sara has a place in Maida Vale where they lived before they moved to Hampshire, and the boys usually live there with her.

‘Noel has now also bought a house there, but it is far from finished. He got it so he could be close to his boys, whom he adores.

“They stay with him for a week when they’re not on tour, when he’s in Hampshire.”

His hotel suite is also a perfect party spot. He likes going to the Chiltern Firehouse bar and has had lots of parties in his suite.

They added: ‘But the split really hit him and he’s told his friends that he’s struggling with all kinds of emotions inside.

“It hit him hard and he doesn’t want to be an old party animal because he can’t stoke it like he used to.

“He also says it’s a ‘challenging’ and a ‘dark time,’ and that he doesn’t want to be single forever, but it’s hard for him to try and move beyond Sara.”

In addition to his two boys, Noel has daughter Anaïs, 23, with his ex-wife Meg Mathews, 57.

They divorced in January 2001 over his adultery with Scottish publicist Sara, whom Noel met in June 2000 at Space nightclub in Ibiza.

After the divorce, Noel admitted that he had only claimed to have cheated to speed up the divorce process and that he had never actually been unfaithful.

Noel also hid – but with his family – in suites at Claridge’s, where rooms can go up to £14,000 a night, in April 2022 when the heating broke down in their north London apartment.

He boasted, “If you could, you would,” and said he couldn’t find it “unpleasant” to stay in a cold house while construction workers worked to fix the plumbing.
