Amy Robach goes to NewsNation to host her own show

Amy Robach is about to land a new job in television in a million-dollar deal that will see her on the air for just one day a week, sources tell DailyMail.com

But NewsNation, her potential new employers, have jettisoned their original plans to have her go on-air with lover TJ Holmes and have decided they have no place for him on their station, DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal.

The move to hire Robach has already angered her future colleagues, who make it clear to the station honchos that they don’t want her, fearing the network will be seen as a “dumping ground” for disgraced anchors.

“First Chris Stirewalt, then Chris Cuomo, and now Amy!” one told DailyMail.com. “It’s not good for our reputation.

“It seems like we’re a mess for people who can’t get bigger and better jobs anywhere else.”

Amy Robach is in talks with NewsNation executives to join the network for a seven-figure gig tentatively titled Robach & Co. from January

“There’s no doubt that Amy is talented,” said the source. “But the general feeling in the building is that she has too much baggage and that the company should go after talent that hasn’t been laid off by other networks.”

The 50-year-old mother of two is expected to begin her new gig – tentatively titled Robach & Co. in January – exactly one year after she and Holmes were fired by ABC for not revealing they were having an affair.

The couple — who were both married — were suspended from GMA3 co-anchors in December 2022 after DailyMail.com exclusively revealed the affair when they were photographed enjoying a cozy vacation together in New York’s Shawangunk Mountains shortly before Thanksgiving.

NewsNation insiders say the company first began investigating to hire both Robach and Holmes, 45, shortly after they were suspended. The cable network hoped that the on-air chemistry they showed while on ABC would continue on their new show together.

But after only a few months, they abandoned the idea and started preparing “mockups” with only Amy – behind-the-scenes work, such as designing logos and preparing a theme tune for a show.

The show is scheduled for primetime, DailyMail.com has learned. It is described within the network as “a weekly talk/sit-down featuring various newsmakers and human interest stories around the world.”

Chris Stirewalt joined the network in May 2022 as a political editor after being fired by Fox News for correctly calling the Arizona election for Joe Biden.

Chris Cuomo joined six months later after CNN suspended him for advising his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who was under investigation in a sexual harassment scandal.

Other hosts include Ashleigh Banfield, Elizabeth Vargas and Dan Abrams.

The addition of Robach will be another step in the Chicago-based channel’s effort to establish itself as a serious competitor to the three leaders in the field, conservative Fox News, liberal MSNBC and CNN, which have been left behind during the administrative turmoil. has changed its political stance and is now appearing to go back to the left.

It already claims to be the fastest growing cable news network in the country with 70 million homes.

But with an average of 93,000 viewers per night, it is only the 76th most watched network, well below the big three. Fox attracts more than 1.4 million viewers each night, MSNBC nearly 1.2 million and CNN 571,000.

Even the far-right Newsmax far surpasses NewsNation with an average nightly viewership of 249,000.

The station – which is owned by media group Nexstar – describes itself on its website as “America’s source for engaging and unbiased news that reflects the full range of perspectives across the country.”

Last year, it announced a major expansion for its news operation by opening production studios in New York and Washington, DC, meaning Robach won’t have to travel to the Windy City for her new show.

Robach and Holmes have both been out of work since ABC let them go. They regularly hang out and play sports in New York and have vacationed in both Puerto Rico and Mexico.

Robach’s divorce from former Melrose Place star Andrew Shue was finalized in March, while Holmes’s divorce from lawyer Marilee Fiebig is in its final stages. Both couples were married for 12 years.

As DailyMail.com revealed in May, Holmes has decided not to renew the lease on his Manhattan apartment when it expires in late summer and plans to move in with his lover full-time.

TJ and Amy’s secret romance was revealed last November after DailyMail.com found them in a secluded rental cottage close to picturesque Minnewaska State Park, two hours north of New York City.

That was after they were spotted enjoying a post-film afternoon drink at O’Donoghue’s Irish bar in Times Square and visiting each other’s apartments.

The romance had begun in London when they were sent to cover Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in June last year.

Even before that, they were known for their flirty on-screen chemistry since ABC first paired them on GMA3 in September 2020.

They often trained together, ran a half marathon side-by-side, and admitted how close they were before embarking on their affair.
