Today host Allison Langdon makes a cameo on Meghan Markle’s podcast

Today show host Allison Langdon has made a surprise cameo in the latest episode of Meghan Markle’s Archetypes podcast.

During the episode, the Duchess of Sussex vented her frustrations at being told a ‘million times over’ she was lucky Prince Harry had ‘chosen her’ to be his wife when they became engaged in 2017.

Markle, 41, illustrated her point with a clip of Langdon, 43, speaking about the couple’s wedding in a 2018 episode of 60 Minute Australia.

‘The happy couple has enchanted the world with their real life fairytale,’ Langdon said on the program.

Langdon was visibly frustrated after hearing her cameo for the first time, live on Wednesday’s Today show.

‘[I’m blowing] steam out my ears! What part of that was saying, ‘Harry [chose you] … oh my gosh’, she scoffed.

Langdon’s co-host Karl Stefanovic was also maddened, saying that her latest podcast ‘makes his head explode’.

Markle accompanies her rant with a clip of Langdon (pictured in 2019) gushing over the couple’s wedding in a 2018 episode of 60 Minutes , saying: ‘The happy couple has enchanted the world with their real life fairytale’

‘Whatever side of the fence Ally is on in this story, she gets smashed by Meghan,’ he said, rolling his eyes.

‘You tell me, in anything I just said… was me saying that she was lucky because of prince [Harry]!’ Ally exclaimed, adding: ‘All I know is I had a lot of mates who liked Meghan for a long time and none of them do anymore.’

Langdon has never been shy to criticise the the Sussexes.

Just last week, Langdon called Markle out for for comparing herself to Nelson Mandela her recent interview with The Cut magazine.

The former Suits actress had claimed she was told by a cast member of the Lion King in 2019 that South Africans had ‘danced in the street’ when she married Prince Harry – just like they did when ‘Mandela was freed from prison’.

‘That [comment], I feel, is tone-deaf,’ Langdon remarked on the Today show.

‘Even if it was said… to share that… Anyway, they’re living their “quiet life”, as they wished,’ Langdon later added, rolling her eyes.

In her latest Archetypes podcast, which featured actress Mindy Kaling, Markle said: ‘When I started dating my husband, we became engaged. Everyone was just like, ‘Oh my God, you’re so lucky, he chose you’.

‘At a certain point, after you hear it a million times over, you’re like, ‘well, I chose him too’. But, thankfully, I have a partner who was countering that narrative for me and going ‘They’ve got it all wrong. I’m the lucky one because you chose me’.

‘It’s hard to see how that would sit with [the Royal Family], especially the Mandela references,’ Stefanovic remarked, as Langdon added: ‘That one, I feel, is tone-deaf’

‘But it is gendered and it’s archetyped and stereotyped that you’re so lucky, and it just feeds into this idea that you’re waiting for someone to tell you that you’re good enough, as opposed to knowing that you’re good enough on your own.’

In May 2018, crowds flocked to see the Queen’s grandson Harry and US actress Meghan on their wedding day which featured a glittering, star-studded ceremony in the 15th century St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

Markle wore a pure white wedding gown by Clare Waight Keller at Givenchy for the Royal Wedding.

She has also been married before. In 2011, she wed film producer Trevor Engelson on a beach in Jamaica in a sleek, strapless, floor-length white dress with diamante waist detail.

When Kate Middleton was dating Prince William in their early days, she reportedly told one friend who remarked she was lucky to be going out with him: ‘He’s lucky to be going out with me.’
