‘Drunk driver’, 25, dies of severe head injuries after falling from New York’s Manhattan Bridge onto road below at 1am after slightly bending fender with an Uber

A 25-year-old man has died after falling off the Manhattan Bridge after running off a small fender bender with an Uber in the early hours of Tuesday.

The man, who has not yet been identified, was involved in a two-car accident just before 2 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

Police said he then ran on foot from the bridge’s incoming lower level, where he attempted to climb onto the bridge to get away.

Authorities say he then fell to his death in the street below, while officers are now investigating why he ran from the crash in the first place.

A pedestrian then found the man downstairs on Henry and Forsyth Streets in Manhattan’s Lower East Side.

He was then taken to New York Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

In video footage posted by LLN shortly after the incident, police officers can be seen expecting a black vehicle parked on the bridge.

Four officers shine flares through the car windows before one walks to the edge of the bridge.

On the street below, police stood guard over the alley where the man had fallen and guarded the entrances with their vehicles

Officers also checked the man’s vehicle left on top of the bridge

The officer then starts looking through the gap between the two lanes as others join him and shine their flares.

Video also shows a man sleeping in a white vehicle as officers cordon off an area under the bridge.

On the street, the police kept watch over the alley where the man had fallen and guarded the entrances with their vehicles.

A large pool of blood can also be seen on the ground under the bridge, indicating where the man had landed.
