How to get past the statues in the Selunite Outpost

After you have achieved Baldur’s Gate 3‘s Goblin camp — where you can do the quests “Ask the Goblin Priestess for Help” and “Rescue the Druid Halsin” – you can go to the Underdark once you solve a puzzle in the Defiled Temple. Past the door and down a long ladder you will find a Selunite outpost. The problem is that the exit is guarded by a few statues that fire radiation damage.

Us Baldur’s Gate 3 The Selunite Outpost statue guide explains how to get past the two statues and continue exploring the Underdark.

Exploring Selunite Outpost

Make sure you have someone with high Dexterity – especially a high Sleight of Hand – and preferably some Thieves’ Tools in your party. There are several locked doors and locked chests you can grab on your way to the statues, and the main entrance to the Selunite Temple is also locked. When you’re ready to head out, make sure someone has some sort of ranged attack – a ranged weapon or spell.

How to disable the Selunite Outpost statues

On the north side of the Selunite Outpost, you’ll find a locked portcullis and nearby glowing statue. There are a few statues outside the door. As you poke around, a minotaur appears to helpfully demonstrate just how lethal the statues are. They will fire arrows Moonlight Artillery that deal radiant damage to everything within range. Instead of trying your luck against them, it’s better – and very easy – to take them out completely.

Have someone in your party run up the stairs on either side of the exit. That gives you a better camera angle to focus on Moonstone at the top of the staff held by the statue in the outpost. Make a ranged attack on the Moonstone itself – it’s easy to hit as it’s an inanimate object and has only one hit point.

Once they’re down, you’ll need to pass a DC 20 Sleight of Hand check to unlock the portcullis.
