Mother of Marine killed in Kabul suicide bombing says she began to ‘tremble’ with anger when ‘heartless’ Biden compared her son’s death to Beau’s – who ‘died of cancer and they could be by his side’

Gold Star mom Cheryl Rex revealed on Monday that President Biden told her that his own son Beau had also been brought home in a flag-draped coffin just after receiving the heartbreaking news that her son had been killed in the attack in Kabul.

When[Biden]approached me, his words to me were, ‘My wife, Jill and I know how you feel. We also lost our son and brought him home in a flag-draped coffin,” Rex said at a Gold Star family hearing hosted by California Republican Representative Darrel Issa.

“My heart started beating faster and I started shaking, knowing their son was dying of cancer and they could be by his side.”

“How could anyone be so heartless as to say they knew how I felt a little over 24 hours after learning of my son’s death?” she asked.

Beau died of brain cancer at Walter Reed Medical Center in 2015. It is known that the president said that his son died in Iraq.

The congressional forum in Escondido, Calif., was the first time family members of all 13 service members were brought together to discuss the loss they have suffered as a result of the withdrawal.

Lance Cpl. Dylan Merola was 20 years old when he died in the blast outside Hamid Kharzai Airport in Afghanistan, where he was working to evacuate Afghans.

Merola was a Marine from Rancho Cucamonga, California.

“After this meeting, I never had any more personal correspondence, nor was my son honored or his name spoken by this commander-in-chief,” Rex continued.

The gold star families of the 13 US servicemen who died in Kabul, Afghanistan, attended a public forum in Escondido, Calif. hosted by Rep. Darell Issa.

A suicide bomber detonated its deadly charge outside the Abbey Gate at Kabul International Airport on August 26, 2021, killing 13 US servicemen and at least 170 Afghans amid the chaos at the exit. The families seek accountability and closure from the Biden administration nearly two years later.

Joe Biden’s son, Beau, died in 2015 of brain cancer, a disease his father has attributed to exposure to military fire pits in Iraq. He died at age 46 at Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. – he didn’t come home from war in a flag-draped coffin.

Biden has been criticized before appeared to check his watch seconds after a salute celebrating the return of the 13 US servicemen killed in Kabul.

He had made the unannounced trip to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware when the caskets of the 13 servicemen killed in the attack were returned to the United States.

He stood in silence, his right hand on his chest, as a succession of flag-draped transport cases were carried past him from a C-17 Globemaster aircraft – before looking down at his wrist.

Another mother, Kelly Barnett, said in between sobs that the Pentagon had lied to her – first telling her son had died on the impact and later, through witnesses, that he had lived some time after the explosion.

Staff Sergeant Darin Taylor Hoover, 31, worried that “started the moment he landed there” for his last deployment. He saw “chaos, no communication, lack of leadership,” Barnett said.

The visibly angry and distressed mother said her son was told before his death to “clean up the airport” because “we can’t leave it dirty for the Taliban.”

‘What kind of disrespect? What kind of hatred against our military? What rubbish?’ she exclaimed.

The families of the fallen were then told “lies, given incomplete reports, false reports, total disrespect,” said the grief-stricken mother.

“I was told to my face, he died instantly. That is not true. The only reason I know this is because witnesses told me the truth,” Barnett claimed. “I was lied to and basically told to shut up.”

“He lived for a while… he handed out his ammunition. He tied a tourniquet around his leg. I don’t understand the reasoning behind that lie. It makes no sense other than the fact that, did they really do an investigation? Have they spoken to witnesses? Don’t know.’
