Footage has been obtained of Geno Smith’s arrest in January, showing police handcuffing the Seahawks quarterback before he insisted he didn’t fit in the back of the squad car.
The six-foot-tall signal caller was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving in King County.
More than 18 months after his arrest on suspicion of drunk driving, Smith learned he will not face criminal charges, multiple outlets reported Thursday.
The arrest report indicated that Smith was pulled over for allegedly traveling 156 mph in a 60-mph zone and snaking across several lanes.
The King County (WA) prosecutor told multiple outlets that Smith’s blood test results for alcohol and THC both came back below the state’s legal limits of 0.08 for alcohol and 5.0 for THC. Smith’s results were .038 and 2.6, respectively, ESPN reported.

Video obtained by TMZ showed Smith getting into the patrol car half way before getting frustrated.
“Are you serious or not?” said Smith. ‘How do I fit into this car? Explain to me how do I fit into this car?’
“I don’t fit here,” he continued. “I don’t know what you want me to tell you, I’m six feet tall, if you guys can’t get a car that fits me, I don’t know what you guys are telling me.”
Authorities blamed the delay in test results on a backlog at the State Patrol Crime Lab.
The 32-year-old Smith, who attains career highs of 4,282 passing yards, 30 touchdown passes and a league-best 69.8 percent completion percentage, was arrested on January 10, 2022.
Smith, the league’s comeback player of the year, reached an agreement with the Seahawks in March on a three-year contract worth $75 million and incentives worth an additional $30 million.
The Seahawks are his fourth NFL team in nine seasons, after four years with the Jets and one with the Giants and Chargers. He won the Seattle starting job after Russell Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos in the offseason for the 2022 campaign.
Smith has thrown for 11,199 yards and 64 touchdowns and 48 interceptions in 62 career games. He is 22-29 as a starter overall.
