Micky van de Ven was due to fly to London for Tottenham Hotspur medical services THIS weekend after a £43 million transfer fee was agreed… with the Wolfsburg defender signing a five-year contract

  • Van de Ven will fly to London this weekend for his medical examination at Tottenham
  • The Dutch defender signs a five-year contract with Ange Postecoglou
  • Wolfsburg and Tottenham have agreed on a transfer fee of £43 million

Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven will fly to London this weekend for a medical before completing a £43 million transfer to Tottenham Hotspur and signing a five-year contract.

This comes after Mail Sport revealed that Ange Postecoglou’s side were close to signing the defender after weeks of negotiations between the clubs.

The 22-year-old centre-back enjoyed a successful season at Wolfsburg, sparking interest from several European clubs.

However, it is Spurs who have signed a deal for the defender and he will fly to London this weekend for his medical.

The two sides agreed a fee of £43 million as the Netherlands U21 defender is set to sign a five-year contract.

A possible deal was previously postponed as Van de Ven was part of the Netherlands U21 squad to participate in the European Championships.

Unfortunately for his team, the young Dutchmen drew all three group matches and went out of the tournament.

The defender was impressive and played every minute as his side only conceded twice in the tournament.

The centre-back also played a part in Wolfsburg’s 2-1 pre-season friendly defeat to Italian side Spezia on Wednesday night.

Van de Ven is likely to team up with Cristian Romero at the heart of the Tottenham defense as Postecoglou gets his man a week before the Premier League season starts.

Tottenham Hotspur face Brentford on the opening day and Harry Kane’s future remains in doubt as Bayern Munich pursue a transfer to the England captain.

It remains to be seen where the attacker will end up this summer, but Postecoglou will no doubt want the transfer saga resolved as soon as possible.
