The humble bagel has had a very luxurious makeover, courtesy of two celebrity-loved New York establishments.

Backed by a slew of celebrity investors, including Paul Rudd and Michael Phelps, PopUp Bagels has teamed up with A-list-approved hotel The Mark’s eatery Caviar Kaspia to launch a $55 limited edition bagel.

The chic sandwich, which comes in a small ribbon bag, consists of an “everything bagel” filled with cream cheese, 20 grams of caviar and pieces of smoked salmon.

DailyMail.com was one of the first to use the duration creation, with the FEMAIL team giving it a 7 out of 10.

U.S. Associate Editor Charlie Lankston said, “The bagel itself was delicious – PopUp Bagels always are – and the other individual elements (salmon, cream cheese, caviar) were great on their own, but I think the bagel would have been better served without the salmon.

‘The combination of cream cheese and caviar was unique and oh so delicious, but adding the salmon made it a bit too fishy for my taste.

It also made the bagel much messier to eat! Definitely a 7 out of 10 but I’d give it an 8.5 out of 10 without the salmon.’

U.S. Assistant Femail Editor Raven Saunt also gave the bagel a “solid” 7 out of 10.

She said after swirling it, ‘I think it was nice and moist – if it’s a bit sloppy/tricky to eat without it slipping!

“I think it worked best on the bagel with all the trimmings, because it would have been too much to have such a salty bagel with an already salty filling!”

Meanwhile, US Senior Entertainment Reporter Nola Ojomu described the bagel as a “great combination of two New York classics that don’t normally cross paths.” A perfect high low meal, if you will!’

She gave it an 8 out of 10 overall, with the messiness factor being the biggest downfall.

The caviar used in the bagel is Caviar Kaspia’s Baeri caviar, which retails for $80 per 30g can.

The website describes it as “exceptional caviar” with a “delicately iodized” and fresh hazelnut flavour.

The creation of Caviar Kaspia x PopUp Bagels can only be pre-ordered through Resy, with orders available one week in advance.

The bagels went on sale today, August 4, and will be on sale every Friday and Saturday for the rest of August.

Customers must collect their orders from Caviar Kaspia at The Mark Hotel on the Upper East Side between 9am and 11am.

PopUp Bagels announced the bagel’s launch this week via Instagram, with fans going wild at the prospect of caviar being added to the mix.

One commenter said, “This is the best collaboration ever.”

Another mused after seeing a taste of the caviar sandwich stack, “Omg! Looks like heaven!’

However, some were less convinced of the fancy recipe, with one writing, “I like PopUp Bagels, but I’m not a caviar girl.”

Adam Goldberg, the founder of PopUp Bagels, told DailyMail.com that he always loves collaborating with all types of epic brands and that this caviar bagel concept with our friends at Caviar Kaspia is absolutely brilliant.

“Get them while you still can!”
