An entire island in Maine has gone on sale for $400,000, but there’s a catch: there’s not a single bathroom on the whole thing.

That’s right, you can now become the owner of a 7,405 square foot piece of land smack dab in the middle of Anasagunticook Lake, but you’ll need to use a Porta-Potti or a composting toilet when you go to the toilet.

Built in the 1930s, the man-made private island comes with a cozy cottage, a 18-foot-tall (5.5-meter) lighthouse that seats four at the top, and a jetty—but it sadly lacks plumbing.

The house measures only 20 by 7 meters and contains only one large room, which serves as a kitchen, dining room, living room and bedroom.

The one-room house can sleep up to five people, as it contains a double bed and a bunk bed for three people – that is, if you don’t mind being close.

Opposite the sleeping area is the kitchen, which is fully equipped with a gas stove, microwave and refrigerator.

Next to the kitchen is a bright red dining table, which seats up to six – perfect for hosting a lakeside party.

The island – located in Canton – offers stunning 360-degree views of the surrounding waters, perfect for swimming, boating, or fishing.

It is also approved for parking a registered motorhome or motor home for up to three months at a time.

The (nearby) beach plot has a fine sandy beach and a swimming area entry. “The water quality of the lake is one of the best in Maine.”

Popular social media account Zillow Gone Wild shared some snaps of the property on Instagram last week and the post quickly went viral.

Despite the lack of running water, many people on the internet were entranced by the idea of ​​living on the remote island.
