EXCLUSIVE Euphoria star Angus Cloud who was found dead at his home aged 25 ‘was so sad after his Irish father passed away that he was too ‘traumatized’ to attend the ashes scattering ceremony’

Euphoria star Angus Cloud was so saddened by his father’s death that he was too traumatized to even attend a private ceremony to scatter his ashes, family friends have revealed.

The 25-year-old actor, who was found dead at his California home earlier this week, was considered “very emotional” by other mourners as he struggled to come to terms with the death of his father Conor Hickey.

The breakout star of the HBO series, in which he played drug dealer Fezco O’Neill, had flown to Ireland with his mother and twin sisters to scatter the ashes on a 100-acre farm still owned by his late father.

While other family members attended a short ceremony at the farm in Laurelstown, County Meath, Angus remained hidden in his hotel room about three miles away.

Family friend Mick Gleeson said, “He was just so traumatized that he couldn’t attend. He was in very bad shape and in total shock. He was in such a fragile state, struggling with the death of his father.

He was caught in the headlights like a rabbit and just couldn’t take the loss.

“I sat down with him and said he was the man of the family now, and he just couldn’t handle it. He was a broken man.’

Another friend added, “I think it was just too much for him to go back to his father’s hometown and everything that came with it.” He couldn’t handle his father’s last goodbye.

“It’s terrible that he felt so overwhelmed that his own life has come to an end.”

Angus was later able to regain his composure and was taken back to the family farm by an aunt to scatter some ashes.

He was also able to attend two other private ceremonies as the extended Hickey family said goodbye to Conor.

One took place in the cemetery where the ashes were scattered on his parents’ graves and another on Count Offaly, where Mr Hickey’s family originally came from.

Conor Hickey died of cancer on May 18 at the age of 65.

He was cremated in a private ceremony in Oakland, California, and his wife Lisa later held a memorial service attended by more than 100 people at a marina near their home.

Mr. Hickey had lived in Oakland, California, since the early 1980s, after emigrating to the US from his hometown in County Meath.

Angus and his twin sisters Molly and Fiona were all born in the US.

Relatives have revealed that Angus struggled with serious suicidal thoughts after the death of his father, who was described as “his best friend.”

Mourners who saw Angus on a weekend visit to County Meath said he was in a ‘very emotional state’.

“Miss u breh,” the actor wrote in one of his latest Instagram posts on July 14

The actor and his family stayed at the Kettle Country House hotel – a venue he knew he had booked several times on previous trips to Ireland.

Staff said the actor looked “very upset” and was “very quiet” during his stay.

“We did see him, but he didn’t talk to anyone and was very quiet,” says an employee.

His late father’s sisters Gay, Mary and Margaret, along with friends from Ashbourne Rugby Club, where Conor was a popular player, attended the private ceremony.

The group walked to one of the fields near a two-story house at the entrance to the farm to scatter the ashes.

Angus was able to join family and friends in a second ceremony as the ashes were scattered over the graves of Mr Hickey’s parents in the sprawling Glasnevin Cemetery near Dublin.

Friends of the family do not believe Angus will have his ashes scattered in County Meath.

His cousin Gerald Hough, who runs a pub in Banagher County Offaly, said the young actor will be missed.

He told MailOnline: ‘We are all deeply saddened by the loss of Angus, who leaves behind so many broken hearted family and friends.

“He was a tremendous talent and a kind hearted soul, he will be missed by all of us.

‘We had a great evening at JJ Houghs Singing Pub last summer at a family reunion and these are memories we will cherish forever.

“He was crazy crazy and as Irish as you can get, he even shot a scene with me for my annual Christmas advert for The Pub May he Rest in Peace.”

Family friend Noel McLaughlin told MailOnline: ‘Angus always loved going back to County Meath with his dad, who made it a point to return every year.

“He loved it here, and the pair would go shooting in the fields.

“It’s tragic what happened, and Angus was very upset when he was here.

“It’s up to his mother where she decides his resting place will be.”

Angus, who has appeared in several films yet to be released, including “Scream 7,” had paid tribute to this dad on Instagram in one of his last social media posts just two weeks before his own death.

He shared a touching photo of his smiling dad in a red hoodie and sweatpants with the caption “miss u breh.”

According to a family statement, Angus “wrestled intensely” with his father’s death

The actor and his family flew into Dublin Airport on July 19 and stayed at the Kettle County House hotel for five nights.

They returned to the US on July 23. One of his aunts had traveled from her home in Canada, the other from Aberdeen in Scotland and another from across the border in Derry in Northern Ireland.

Angus was found unconscious at the Hickey family home in Oakland by his mother Lisa, a former college professor.

It was reported that Lisa told Oakland police about a “possible overdose during an emergency call.”

The actor was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy will be performed later this week to determine the cause of death.

His family confirmed his death in a statement Monday.

It read, “It is with the heaviest of hearts that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human being today. As an artist, friend, brother and son. Angus was special to all of us in so many ways.

“Last week he buried his father and struggled intensely with this loss. The only consolation we have is the knowledge that Angus is now reunited with his father, who was his best friend.

Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope his passing can remind others that they are not alone and should not just fight this in silence.

“We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter and love for everyone.”

Tributes have been paid to the actor by cast members of the Euphoria series.

The series’ Emmy-winning star Zendaya took to Instagram to share a heartfelt post. “Words are not enough to describe the infinite beauty of Angus,” she wrote. “I’m so grateful to have had the chance to get to know him in this life, to call him brother, to see his warm, kind eyes and bright smile, or to hear his infectious laugh (I’m just smiling right now thinking about it)… I will cherish every moment.”

Actress Sydney Sweeney shared a collection of photos and clips with Cloud, calling him “an open soul, with the kindest heart.” “This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to post,” adding that she was “struggling to find all the words.”
