Whoopi Goldberg admits she wished she had NEVER married as she laments three ‘boring and expensive’ divorces – before lashing out at her View co-host Joy Behar for joking she would have a ‘younger husband’ have to search
Whoopi Goldberg has revealed that she never wanted to get married, despite being married three times in the past, lamenting how “boring and expensive” her trio of breakups became.
The 67-year-old star decided to open up about her past relationships on Tuesday’s episode of The View, when she admitted she “danced and pranced” every time her marriages came to an end.
Whoopi has been divorced a total of three times, and her last marriage to union organizer Lyle Trachtenberg ended in 1995.
The Ghost star admitted that by the time her third marriage was over, she felt like it was getting “expensive and boring,” hinting that’s a big reason she’s never said “I do” again — despite high-profile romances with actors Timothy Dalton and Ted Danson.
Whoopi grew increasingly fed up talking to her fellow panelists as they discussed their own relationships, especially when Joy Behar urged women to “marry a man younger than you.”

The Oscar-winning actress and Joy talked about dating and divorce with Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin on Tuesday’s episode, eager to talk about The Real Housewives of Miami star Lisa Hochstein.
A few days ago, Lisa slammed her estranged husband Lenny Hochstein on social media after learning he was engaged to girlfriend Katharina Mazepa despite still being married to her.
Reminding the world that Lenny is still married to her, the reality TV star wrote on her Instagram Stories, “Congratulations to my current husband and his mistress on their engagement.”
Joy, 80, was quick to comment on the situation, telling the panel, “As someone who’s divorced, I want to say there’s a special kind of anger that comes with it when you get divorced!”
Sunny, 54, was eager to hear more and asked her, “What’s so special about it?” to which Joy jokingly replied, “You’re murderous, murderous!”
As the live studio audience cheered in agreement, Joy continued, “A lot of women understand that. There’s something about… even if you want a divorce, there’s something about that wringing that makes you murderous.’
Whoopi then blurted out, ‘I was dancing and prancing around, I was so happy to get out of there! Every time! Because I always knew, I always thought, “You didn’t want to do this from the giddy moment! You knew you didn’t want to do it and you did it anyway, so shut up and move on!”‘
Joy then asked, “Why did you do it?” to which Whoopi replied, “I thought I could make a round hole in a square peg.” I thought that was what was for me.

Not impressed: Whoopi looked bored as her co-hosts discussed the pressure women feel to get married
“I was never meant to get married. And I know that and I knew that then and I kept trying to do what everyone would tell me to do and then it was like, you know what, ‘this is getting expensive and boring.’
Whoopi’s first marriage was from 1973 to 1979 to a drug counselor named Alvin Martin.
After her film career took off, she married cinematographer David Claessen in 1986, but it was not to be, as they were divorced in 1988.
Whoopi married her third and final husband, Lyle Trachtenberg, in 1994, but they separated the following year.
After her third divorce, she had a live-in relationship with actor Frank Langella and playwright David Schein.
Her other ex-boyfriends include businessman Michael Visbal, orthodontist Jeffrey Cohen, and cameraman Edward Gold.
Meanwhile, Joy has been married twice and dated her current husband Steve Janowitz for 29 years before they tied the knot in 2011.
Before that, she was married to college professor Joe Behar from 1965 to 1981.

As the panel discussed the pressure women feel to get married and have children, Joy advised, “Marry a man younger than you. At my age it’s very important to have someone who can do the heavy lifting.’
Sunny agreed, turned to Sara and Joy and said, “Actually, your husband is younger. Your husband is younger. My husband is younger…”
Alyssa confirmed that she and husband Justin Griffin are the same age, and then Whoopi yelled, “I don’t care!”
As the rest of the panel laughed, Joy confirmed, “Whoopi’s over it!”
