It’s no secret that Italians are picky about their food, and most expect tourists to adhere to their traditions when they visit the country.

But one TikToker broke all the rules by squeezing ketchup on his pizza, driving Italians into a frenzy.

Ben Reid, who goes by the username @itsbenreid, posted the unforgivable food crime among his 2.7 million TikTok followers.

Ben smothered his food with ketchup, swirled the bottle around the plate, and covered the Margherita pizza with the sauce.

The viral video shows a young waitress visibly cringing, clutching her head in her hands and calling for the manager to witness the horror.

The manager moves to a safe distance before removing his sunglasses to get a better look and storming forward to ask the young man, “What are you doing?”

He proceeds to pick up the ketchup bottle that, it seems, the TikToker himself had brought to the restaurant and threw it while yelling “No.”

Ben had barely had time to cut up his pizza and hadn’t even taken a bite before the manager intervened.

Watching the ketchup bottle fly before his eyes, he wrote in the video, “I thought my time had come.”

The TikToker had posted an earlier video before the manager intervened as part of a series called “P****** of every Italian I meet” as I traveled around the country.

The two videos have received a lot of attention on the app and have been viewed more than 10 million times in total.

Users flooded the comments section with disbelief at the food crime, one wrote: “I yelled at my phone before it did and I’m not Italian.”

Others agreed: ‘I’m not Italian, but I started crying, ‘I’m not even Italian and I’m offended.’

Some have defended the TikToker and even admitted their own food crimes. One user wrote, “Granted, this is me, but with ranch instead of ketchup.”

One user wrote, “I only have ketchup on pizza,” another user added, “So you’ve been telling me I’ve been eating pizza wrong for 40 years.”

While others were shocked: “It’s wild that they care so much about what someone else is eating.”

Another agreed: “If you paid for it, I don’t know why they get mad.”

Some even claimed that ketchup on pizza is encouraged in their home country, one saying, “That’s basically how we eat pizza in Mexico.”

Another agreed: “That’s how the whole country of Brazil eats their picture.”

The viral video belongs to a series of TikToks that all have the same intent to annoy Italians.

Ben has casually committed other food crimes in high-end Italian restaurants, even taking his own pair of scissors to a restaurant to cut his spaghetti with.

Ben claimed that the waiter, visibly distressed at the sight, tried to kick him out.
