NFL Giants rookie wide receiver Jalin Hyatt has set the Giants’ training camp on fire in more ways than one as he prepares for his first season as a pro.

Hyatt was clocked at 24 mph in practice over the weekend, according to Art Stapleton from NorthJersey.comwhich would have given him the record for the fastest clocked speed in NFL history had it happened during a real game.

The current record belongs to Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who once hit a top speed of 37.2 miles per hour during a game in 2016.

Leading up to this year’s NFL Draft, Hyatt was lauded by scouts and executives for his elite burst and downfield speed, which he put on full display while running a 4.40 40-yard dash during the NFL combine.

Hyatt has also impressed the camp in more ways than just his speed.

“I’m excited for him,” fellow wideout Isaiah Hodgins told reporters after Monday’s practice.

“He certainly brings that explosive part to our attack. He’s one of those pieces that helps stretch the field vertically for us.”

While playing in college at Tennessee, Hyatt scored a school-record 15 touchdowns – which was the second most in the country – and averaged an absurd 18.9 yards per catch last season.

“He does everything a rookie is supposed to do,” Hodgins said. He asks the right questions. It absorbs everything like a sponge. He comes to me, Slay (Darius Slayton), Beas (Cole Beasley), he always asks questions, tries to watch movies and do the right things.

“I’m excited that he keeps taking it one step at a time and learning this game, getting all those bumps out of the way, which he seems to have already done, and just keep getting to the top of the defense.”
