Kyle Sandilands goes on epic tirade and slams the ABC after Juanita Phillips leaves national broadcaster

Kyle Sandilands criticized the ABC on his KIIS FM radio show Tuesday morning, claiming that no one watches the national broadcaster.

The radio shock jock, 52, went on an epic diatribe about ABC’s popularity after Juanita Phillips left the network after 21 years at the helm of the NSW 7pm News.

Sandilands said, “Anyone who watches the ABC has been misled.”

He went on to say that “the ABC isn’t on anyone’s radar” before challenging his co-host Jackie “O” Henderson to describe what Phillips looks like.

Unfortunately, his radio co-host, 48, couldn’t remember a single detail about Phillip’s appearance and even said she was a brunette.

Phillips is blonde, not brunette.

Kyle went on to say, “No one looks at that crap. Nobody cares. Nobody cares about the ABC,” before saying that Phillip’s career “doesn’t belong” in KISS FM news.

‘Never heard of her. Doesn’t have to be on our news. That’s ABC bullshit,” he said.

With more than 4,500 bulletins to her name, Phillips joined the ABC in 2002 after roles on CNN International, BBC World News, SKY News Australia and the 10 Network.

She went from weekend presenter to co-anchor later that year and was named solo presenter of the 7 p.m. news in 2003.

“Change is in the air, so it seems like the right time to take the next big step in my own life,” Phillips wrote on ABC News.

“After 21 years of presenting the 7 p.m. news, I’ve decided to leave the ABC and take a break.

“It’s my choice and I’m excited to start the next phase of my life.”

Phillips gave a special mention to her viewers, claiming it was her “sorry” to say “goodbye,” with her last bulletin on September 10.

“It is a privilege to have played a small role in such an important part of people’s daily lives, and I appreciate the warmth and support I have received from them over the years,” the journalist wrote.

The mother of two summed up her sprawling career in five words: “terrorism, Trump, COVID, climate and equality.”
