Stuart Broad’s Test career came to a fairytale end as he took the last two wickets of the match to seal victory for England and tie the Ashes series.

England beat Australia by 49 runs in the fifth and final Ashes test at The Oval on Monday, securing a 2-2 series draw with an afternoon of brilliant bowling, including taking wickets in four successive overs.

Australia had already kept the coveted urn, but narrowly missed out on their first Ashes series victory in England since 2001.

They won the first two tests but lost the third and looked set to lose the fourth, until two days of almost continuous rain led to a draw.

The fifth test was well prepared to go into the final afternoon with Australia steadily making their way past the 250 as they chased down a huge target of 384.

But after a prolonged rain delay, the England bowlers came out and took the remaining seven wickets to claim victory.
