The devastated wife of a young electrician who died in a freak work accident has asked her late husband to “watch over her” in a heartbreaking tribute.

Matthew Milner, 24, was found dead on the roof of a residence in Perth’s northern suburbs after being electrocuted on the job.

The power in the home where the electrician died was not turned off. It is clear that Mr. Milner was installing powerpoints, reports 9News.

His wife Monique posted a photo of the couple embracing on the beach on Sunday, writing, “Always and forever my boy…watch over me as I live the life we should live together.”

“Our place, always and forever,” she captioned another photo of the ocean.

The couple had been married just over a year before the freak accident, with Ms Milner describing the past year as the ‘best of my life’.

Dozens of heartbroken friends and family left messages of support in the comments.

“Moon, I’m so sorry. Absolutely shocked. He lit up every room he entered. Sending you so much love,” one woman wrote.

Others posted their own tributes on social media.

Matthew’s older brother, Jonathon Miller, said words could not describe the grief his family experienced after his loss.

“You were the one brother of the four of us who kept everyone smiling, never worried about anything, and made sure we stayed together as brothers and family no matter what life had to offer,” he wrote.

“Matthew, I love you more than words can describe. It pains me to know that your laughter, your jokes, our time together as four brothers and a family will now be nothing but memories. It will never be the same without you.’

Ms Milner’s father said the pain of losing his son-in-law was ‘unbelievable’.

“I have no words to express how profoundly you have changed our lives by making @mon_milner so happy. Family is everything and we will stand strong together to honor your memory,” he wrote.

Sarah, the owner of the house where Mr. Milner died, praised the young tradie.

“Just meeting Matthew allowed me to see that he was a good person and a hard working young man,” she wrote.

Energy safety director Saj Abdolakhan said it was “always a tragedy” when a young worker was killed in an accident at work.

“The law requires every employee, whenever we enter a roof space, to turn off the power at the main source before entering that space,” he said.

Mr Abdolakhan urged homeowners to put warning stickers on switchboards reminding tradesmen to turn off the power source before entering the roof.

Western Australian Prime Minister Roger Cook said the incident would be investigated.

“It’s awful, any death in the workplace is tragic and we want to make sure that any unavoidable death is accounted for and that we learn from those experiences,” he said.

Authorities are now investigating why the power was not turned off and whether Mr Milner was working for himself or for his employer when the incident took place.
