Cool down Hillary: Clinton claims ‘MAGA Republicans’ are to blame for historic heat across the U.S. in call to ‘vote them out of office’

  • Hillary Clinton blamed the record-breaking heat on ‘MAGA Republicans’
  • Republicans in Congress did not vote for the Inflation Reduction Act, which included climate initiatives
  • ‘Hot enough for you? Thank a MAGA Republican. Or better yet, vote them out of office,’ Clinton said

Hillary Clinton blamed the record-breaking heatwave on ‘MAGA Republicans’ in a tweet Tuesdsay.

The Democrats’ 2016 nominee shared a post from a group associated with the left-leaning think tank the Center for American Progress, which said, ‘MAGA Republicans are pouring fuel on the climate crisis fire.’

Clinton indicated she agreed with that message.

‘Hot enough for you?’ the former secretary of state asked. ‘Thank a MAGA Republican. Or better yet, vote them out of office.’

The post noted how zero of the ‘MAGA Republicans’ – those politically aligned with former President Donald Trump – had voted in favor of President Joe Biden’s clean energy investments.

Former Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton blamed the ‘MAGA Republicans’ for this summer’s soaring temperatures

It was referring to the climate initiatives that were part of last summer’s Inflation Reduction Act, which Democrats passed using reconciliation in the Senate, bypassing a Republican filibuster threat.

In neither the House nor the Senate did a Republican vote for the bill.

Still, some Republicans thought Clinton’s messaging was a stretch.

‘Lady who do you think is in charge right now,’ commented Republican strategist Matt Whitlock.

Democrats currently control the White House and the U.S. Senate.

‘What pray tell would the temperature in Phoenix be today if you had been elected President?’ asked Stephen Miller, a top official in the Trump White House.

Trump pulled the U.S. out of the Paris climate agreement during his one term in office.

Biden turned around and reentered the U.S. in the climate agreement on inauguration day.

When Clinton was running for president in 2016 she was supportive of government intervention to combat climate change.

Trump has made a number of questionable statements about climate change and green energy over the years, including calling global warming a ‘hoax’ and saying in 2019 that windmill turbines cause cancer.
