Gemma Collins nails Barbiecore trend in a pink jumpsuit while new mum Jessie J opts for a black leather mini-dress at screening of Mattel movie

Gemma Collins was all dolled up on Thursday at a special screening of the new Barbie movie in London.

The former TOWIE star, 42, slipped into a pink jumpsuit for the occasion as she took to the red carpet alongside new mum Jessie J, 35.

Gemma followed the Barbicore trend in the form-fitting outfit with gloved sleeves and a huge bow.

The reality star teased a hint of her ample cleavage and risked a wardrobe malfunction thanks to the plunging neckline.

She slipped her feet into gold platforms and carried her evening essentials in a quirky French fries handbag.

Meanwhile, Jessie dropped the doll theme and instead opted for an ultra-chic black leather mini dress.

Jessie, who welcomed her first child with boyfriend Chanan Safir Colman in May, dress in a blazer style with Fendi graphic tights.

The pop star carried on the color story in her pointed-heeled accessories complete with a bow and furry handbag.

With only a few days to go until the release of Barbenheimer – Barbie and Oppenheimer – social media continues to be flooded with hilarious memes from those planning to see both blockbusters.

With both Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer coming out on Friday, moviegoers are conflicted about which to see first — the lighthearted, fun first or the moody, grim last.

Not only do the movies feature the industry’s most notable directors, but they both have budgets of a whopping $100 million.

While fans were concerned that they would have to choose sides in the battle between Barbie and Oppenheimer, they realized that both could coexist and coined the collective term “Barbenheimer” to accompany the many gags and spoofs appearing online.

Many memes saw fans joking about how they were going to watch both movies in one day – with different ensembles or performances for the crossover.

The term Barbenheimer has blown up so much on social media that the term now has its own Wikipedia page.

The entry describes Barbenheimer as “an Internet phenomenon that began circulating prior to the theatrical release of two films diametrically opposed in genre, Barbie and Oppenheimer, on July 21, 2023.”

It also digs deeper into the roots of the intrigue behind Barbenheimer, citing the extreme ‘contrast’ between the two films.

The page reads: “The contrast between Barbie, a fantasy comedy film directed by Greta Gerwig about the fashion doll Barbie, and Oppenheimer, a biographical thriller film directed by Christopher Nolan about theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, provoked a comical reaction from Internet users.”

Of course, when the internet is presented with a combination of cultural phenomenon and comedy, memes follow.

And with the movies’ premiere date less than two weeks away, there’s a plethora of memes that tie the two films together while pointing out the stark stylistic and genre contrasts between the pair.

The stars of the movies have also become involved in the Barbie and Oppenheimer fiasco. Fortunately, they have remained civilized and even support each other’s films.

Margot signed a Barbenheimer shirt during the Barbie press tour. Oppenheimer star Murphy also recently broke his silence on the discourse.

“I love Margot Robbie, I love Ryan Gosling, I want to see them now!” he told the Spanish publication La Vanguardia.

“My advice would be for people to go see both on the same day. If it’s good movies, it wins at the cinema,” he added.

Robbie and Gerwig took it a step further and showed their support by posting a picture of themselves holding tickets to Oppenheim.

Recently, Murphy reciprocated and posted a photo of him and Nolan holding tickets to the Barbie movie.
